I have fine, straight hair that is kind of thick at the same time. I also have naturally blonde hair that is easily darkened by product residue. I have been using sheer blonde's highlight activating shampoo and thermasilk's volumizing conditioner for a couple of years with good results, but suddenly my hair feels like I have a ton of product buildup in it and it gets worse every time I shampoo. I'm looking for a shampoo and conditioner that will get rid of this gunk and leave my hair shiny. Cheaper is always better, but I'm willing to pay for salon products if I need to. Please help me! What should I buy?

Also, I'm looking for something I can use everyday, not just a clarifying shampoo for once a week.

Pantene products for blonde hair are brilliant, Either pantene or Thermasilk have a cleansing shampoo formulated to remove product gunk.Just dont use the de-gunking shampoo too much,no concrete reason, just tends to dry out hair if used too much.

Honestly if you feel like you have build up try a clarifing shampoo like shampoo 3 from paul mitchell and leave it on your hair for 3-5 minutes rinse it off and then use conditioner.
Professional products don't leave a build up on your hair. Basically you get what you pay for , cheaper is not always better!

If you really like the shampoo and conditioner that you're using now, then continue to use them. Just use a clarifying shampoo a couple times a week to get rid of product build-up. Most brands have one (i.e herbal essences, pantene, suave, VO5, Aussie, etc...)
I use the Aussie one (it comes in a purple bottle) and it works really well.

Wash you hair every so often (once a week), with Neutrogena Shampoo. It's found in the shampoo section at most stores and it will wash out residue build-up in you hair and allow your regular shampoo to work better.
Try it and you'll see a big difference. And don't be fooled in thinking you need expensive shampoos and condition. Neutrogena is not to pricy and is worth the investment.

I would highly recommend the Redken cleansing cream shampoo. It clarifies and works to remove copper, iron, hard water minerals and styling product build-up on all hair types. Formulated with fruit acids to add shine, it purifies and refreshes hair. (http://www.redken.com/products/displayProduct.cfm?p=534)
Redken also has some great conditioning products. I especially like the All-Soft and Anti-Snap.
For everyday use, you may want to try Redken's Blonde Glam. I don't have blonde hair, but I have heard that it works great.
You can buy these at salons or online at places like eBay for a lot less.

If you can find a dandruff shampoo (Not Saying You Have Dandruff)that has selenium sulfide in it then this is the best for your scalp and hair, Head and Shoulders used to have this in it but they switched to Pyrithrone Zinc and now It's not nearly as good.
P.s. "Papa Bear Is Dead Right About The Rainwater Even used with A Conditioner Is Better, (As Long as It's not rainwater that's come down through Dense Smog.(Acid Rain))

Vary your conditioner and shampoos every two weeks, that sometimes causes the chemical build up. Try using Herbal Essences products. All natural is normally better..you may need oil free? Sunsilk is pretty cheap, and you can buy it at Walmart, that seems to work for most of my friends. :)
Good luck ~ Elle

I don't use a conditioner but I use Herbal Essences Fruit Fusion shampoo. My hair is also straight and thick so heavy shampoos like Dove aren't good for my hair. Herbal Essences is really good at making your hair shine. Just use two lathers and rinse well to make your hair look good.

Sounds like you need a shampoo that removes build up and doesn't leave a film on your hair. I would recommend Finesse or Dove. Dove products leave my hair shiny and tangle free....I can even run my fingers through it when it's wet and all I feel is hair...no slimy residue. Good Luck!
