Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas, TX. Collin Ross, MD is the director of medicine there and he is an excellent psychiatrist and caring man.

Do you want to turn this teen into a person who will never be able to funciton in life, or someone who has a chance at a normal life?

Long term care is not an appropriate treatment for a Bipolar teen. If your Doctor is recommending this, you need to RUN, don't walk, but RUN to a new doctor!

Sounds like the real problem that you don't really know how to manage your feelings and behavior when it comes to your son's illness. If the medication isn't helping, it's his environment and the human elements in it. You need the help, not your child. You should be in private therapy yourself, NOW!

The psychiatrist that has been on his case should be able to recommend one for you . I would check on their history, make sure they are up to code, have no violations and make yourself present weekly there.
