No, but I should have been. Mel Gibson made a snuff film about part of Jesus's life that had little or nothing to do with his message of love and compassion. But, after hearing Mel's drunken comments a couple of weeks ago, his real message was clear: He just hates Jews.

I wouldn't say that I'm afraid of watching it. I've never seen it. But it isn't based on the Bible, it is based on a book written by a 19th century nun, if I'm not mistaken.
I'm sure I'll see it some day. I'm sure that when I do, it will be disturbing not because it is 100% factual, but because it is at least close enough to what the reality must have been.
Personally, I very much enjoy Jesus of Nazareth, which was a mini-series so obviously not as graphic as I hear Passion is, but still very moving.
I recommend it to anyone who has not seen it. One of my favorite movies and will remind us all what Jesus suffered for our sakes.

Dont you protestants believe in the same passion as the catholics? I dont understand your comment on 'being a protestant' part...
Being a non Christian and ex-Catholic, I wasn't afaid but felt touched watching the movie. The good book just did'nt stirke that pain and suffering across to the world effectively.
For Jesus to live life as a man knowing all the the time that the torture was to happen to him......thats a really heavy cross to be burdened.

Afraid? No. I just recently watched it, and it made me sick from the inside out. It took me a couple of days to get over that.
Honestly, it raised a lot of questions for me. I am and was a Christian, but it forced me to go back to the Word and read again all of the "how and why" about the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The scenes in this movie are horrific. You need a pretty strong stomach - and the full armor of God - to watch this one.

I was impressed how quiet the theater was when the film ended.
I thought I was familiar with everything until the scenes where Christ is whipped.
Gave me a new appreciation for what he went through.
Was much worse than I had imagined.
Every Christian should see the film. Maybe every non Christian too.

Not afraid, exactly; but I never last long at the gore-fest type of movie anyway, so I didn't go. From what I've heard and read about it, I'm glad I didn't.

uh, NO. I haven't seen it. But the reason has nothing to do with fear. I don't like seeing people get tortured, and I allready know the story. So the surprise twist in the end where he comes back, just isn't a surprise to me.

I would be more afraid of watching the violence rather than the film's subject matter.

Was I interested in Mel Gibson's violent fantasies? No.
And as it turned out, he has a closet full of fantasies.
