I don't know about the 80s but I do remember in the 70s there was a most delicious drink called an "Orange Julius" but I think they made them stop selling them because they contained raw egg. But man were they good!

there is something we have in our mall here called "orange julius" it is kind of a mix between a smoothie and a milkshake made with either sherbert or yogurt i think. they come originally in ornage but they also have strawberry, banana, and several other mixed flavors
