Maybe you have a popup blocker with sound, just try to remove it.

I would check Start---Control Panel----Sounds and Audio Devices. Make sure there isn't a sound that is supposed to play when you load pages.

does it sound kind of like a "bloop" or "blip" sound? i am not sure what it is but i think maybe it has to do with pop-up ads being blocked.
