Have reasonable expectations. The 'high' doesn't last forever. Do different things together. Don't sink into a boring routine.

A relationship is something that is shared. You must be willing to share your feelings, ideas, dreams, and plans for what you where you want the relationship to end up!
Just as two people together, possible marriage, or not THAT serious!
You must be willing to accept the good with the bad and work your way through the bad stuff to get back to the good stuff. If there seems to be more bad or rough spots, and you are not willing to give and take (both sides -you and your partner) then maybe it would be better to part ways.
But if your relationship is something that is important to you both, and you want to salvage it, then there should be no question about trying to work together to make it better. It should come naturally.
Respect each other, and an "I love you" doesn't hurt once in a while when it is least expected!!
Good luck to both of you - hope you make it work!

Communicate and be honest with your partner. Your very correct that sooner or later the honeymoon stage will pass. But it's during the rough spots where love is truly shown and felt. There is so much to learn from these rough spots and sad that some people don't learn but run instead. Life is so short and fleeting so make sure that the one you love is told that each and every day and appreciate them for who they are at all times, especially through the rough areas.

The rough spots make the relationship stronger, through communication skills. Nothing, that is ever easy, is ever worth having.

Communication is the number one thing in my opinion. It takes both people working on the relationship to make it great. Everybody will have things that they disagree on but talking things over will usually work out the problem. I hope this helps.

The best way to maintain a relationship with someone that you love is to be honest with that person. Don't lie and be faithful that can carry you a long way because without trust you have nothing at all.
