would there be a sense of humour about re-allocation? would everyone get to try out another faith? do we have to try them all before we are wise and rounded enough to achieve Nirvana???

***Buddhist do not believe in an eternal soul. It is the mind-stream, not the soul, which goes through rebirth and cycles in existence.

Buddhism encourages the world religions to share views and develop peace together for the whole world.

It is often one’s commitment after taking refuge to respect other religions and philosophies. Buddhism does not view the followers of other religions as the mis-guided disciples of a devil.

As Kalu Rinpoche said, since there are different mental dispositions of sentient beings there are different religions. It is like walking down a street and recognizing there are many different restaurants because everyone has a different taste or attitude; some restaurants do serve more nutritious food than others, but the fact remains that they are all present so everyone is equally satisfied.

There are some very striking similarities among the world religions.

Even so, all religions do not possibly lead to the same goal or enlightenment. If one were to travel east and your friend were to travel west, both of you would find similar rocks, trees and probably some mountains. There would be many striking similarities, but your destination and result would be different. Therefore, even though the various religions do have similarities that we must all uphold and honor, we cannot expect to obtain the same benefit from any religion or path.

Reincarnation in buddhism is based on merits. You may be reborn as a different lifeform and not necessily human.

What you do in this world, before and the next is the process to reach nirvana. Buddhism believes in retribution for your sins in the next life and reward to a higher level if you have a good life.

Meaning to say, I might have been a dog in my last life becasue I really love dogs in this life. OR...if you are a vegetarian today, you might be a vegetable next life...huh..just kidding

If i get reincarnated agian it wont be to THIS planet!

. A person who believes in reincarnation assumes responsibility for his own spiritual evolution through rebirth. He does not need priests, confessionals, and rituals to ward off damnation (all ideas, incidentally, that were not part of Jesus' teachings). He needs only to heed his own acts to himself and others. A belief in reincarnation eliminates the fear of eternal hell that the Church uses to discipline the flock. In other words, reincarnation directly undermines the authority and power of the dogmatic Church. No wonder reincarnation made the Defenders of the Faith so nervous.

Not really. When you understand Buddhism, you know what the other relgions are talking about. No further points of argument there. The rest have to gain some affinity to Buddhism before there is a chance of getting to know Buddhism. Take care.

Buddhists and Hindus believe that you will be reincarnated till you balance you sins with merits so we will take different life forms according to the sins we did in the previous life. So we have to reincarnate till we suffer for our sins.

I can think they are right...
Why should I pay for something I don't remember.(karma) I think is unfair!
Were are those reincarnated souls who have gain wisdom for so many years of reincarnating...almost all of us should be wise by now...(if you see one tell me)
What is the good thing if we cant remember what we did, how we suffer or have joy?
And if we are now more people than before, then were that all this new soul came from? Outer space?
Then by now almost all the population would be Buddist...dont you think so?

If we are already a reincarnation in the present life but we are not aware of it then the Belief in Reincarnation becomes meaningless. So we ought to live this life, well. Over there in the eternal life, we all shall know the Truth. Why bother about that in this life?

Buddhism isn't the only religion that believes in Reincarnation.

So does Judaism, read the Kabbalah.

Reincarnation in Buddhism is also not the same as Rebirth in Buddhism.

i believe we do because it would be a waste of a soul only to use it once and discard it once the outer shell wore out. i think that in your next life you become something which reflects on the way you lived this life. E.G mabe i'm scared of spiders because i used to be a fly! or mabe olympic swimmers used to be fish. mabe if we just looked after everything then we wouldn't need to fear what comes next.

We are lucky to be Buddhist, fortunately you don't get to 'try' our religion in your next life. you have to look, see and learn from when you first encounter it and embrace its philosophy.
Buddhism is one of the true peaceful doctrines which means instead of worrying about what everyone is filling their heads with, you just get on with your own self improvement program so that you may attain a higher plane in your next life, simply put. But too many christians, moslems and other religions are too interested in trying to kill each other than trying to attain any sort of peace, either with themselves or others. Ultimately, I shall stand at the edge of the pit and watch all others perish in their own eternal damnation, because that is all they want to achieve.. I want to move on and attain the next level. Hatred of your brother and neighbour is such a waste
