Brent once again you astound me with great questions.

now most people answering right now may not have even saw Azumah in his prime, if so they missed a master, a man that became know as the Professor of boxing, now to be called that in a era of Salvador Sanchez, Eusibio Pedroza, and Wilfredo Gomez is alone a testament to his greatness...
Azumah started his career as a featherweight and in only his 3rd fight fought and won the national title of his country.
In his 10th fight he was crowned British Commonwealth Champion
In his 12Th he added The African title to his growing list of titles.
In only his 14th fight he was fighting the great Sanchez and was leading on of the scorecards, when he was stopped in the 15th round....I could go on and on, but Brent to be honest here if Oscar and Azumah met in their primes....WELL AZUMAH WOULD HAVE KNOCKED OUT OSCAR IN THE 6TH OR 7TH ROUND

A lot of people probably think that De La Hoya would win easily but I don't think so. Azumah on many occasions has beat some really good fighters like Fenech and gave the great Salvadore Sanchez quite a battle before losing. De La Hoya to his credit has fought a lot of good fighters in his career and a fine all round fighter. I believe this would be a war with a lot of punishment being dealt out by these two fighters. I believe De La Hoya lands a few more than Nelson and wins a narrow decision. Great question.

De LaHoya - W 38 (KO's 29) TF 42 - W pct 90% - KO pct 69% - wins over Chavez{2}, Whitaker and Chamacho - KO'ed by B. Hopkins - #75 ranked fighter
Won Gold medal in 1992 Olympics at Light wt.
Held titles at 130, 135, 140, 147, 154 and 160.

Nelson - W 39 (KO's 28) TF 46 - W pct 85% - KO pct 61% - wins over Gomez, Fenech and LaPorte - KO'ed by Sanchez - #65 ranked fighter

These fighters are almost mirror images of each other except De LaHoya was much faster. In this bout, I take the "Golden Boy", De LaHoya in a close decision.

at 130 the professor destroys de la hoya.oscar had a chance to take this fight in the 90s and bob arum his then promoter refused to let oscar anywhere near azumah nelson.that is why oscar fought johnny bredhal so he could say he won a "world title" at 130 without fighting the only 130lb champ who mattered.

Both in their prime I would have to call it 50/50
Oscar definitely has a speed advantage but Nelson was a tough S.O.B and usually toughness and heart wins fights I think I would lean towards Nelson .
