Get coyote pee in granular form, they sell it on the Internet and probably in some gardening nursery's. You sprinkle it on the lawn and they think there is a predator nearby so they won't come near your place.

My suggestion would be to call the police or animal control when you see them on your lawn (or off of their own lawn for that matter). They will come take the cats to the pound and the owners will have to pay a fine to get them out (or they will go to new homes that will take care of them). If you know who the cats belong to, you can also file a complaint with the police that the owners are not cleaning up after their pets (most areas have laws requiring cleanup of pet stool) and allowing them to go on your yard. These methods will cost you nothing and likely take care of the problem quickly.

call animal control! Cats shouldn't be outside to run around free, they should be kept inside where it is safe or on a leash, just like dogs! your neighbor is an irresponciable cat owner and I feel bad for the cat being neglected like that maybe animal control can come and take the cat and it can find a better home where it's owners will love it and take care of it.

Hi there...Common odours that are effective deterrents for cats and dogs are:
citrus (primarily towards cats), cayenne pepper, coffee grounds, pipe tobacco, lavender oil, lemon grass oil, citronella oil, peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil, and mustard oil.
"Havahart's Cat Repellent" uses capsaicin pepper and oil of mustard as its active ingredients. It repels by both taste and odor, has a lemon scent.
Every animal responds differently to each of these. Some will not be phased by them and others will be quite revolting.
For training purposes they are applied on items that are to encourage avoidance behaviours and not for use with a squirt bottle as they could harm the eyes or respiratory system.

Dogs poop in the front of my house and it makes me very angry.
I clean seven litterboxes every day in my house and I don't like having to clean up after other people's dogs.
If you can catch them at it, a spray with the garden hose has always worked for me with cats whom I don't want on my property.

of all the cats I've ever had, I've never seen a cat poop on the lawn...they always go to a soft ground or sandy area, and cover it up later
maybe it's not a cat? racoon, muscrat, oppossum, etc?

Are you sure its cats? Most cats dig a hole and poop then bury it.
My cats occasionally leave poop on my bed how do I get them to stop that?

You have to "mark the territory" as yours. You need to spray the lawn with a chemical that lets them know it, and the only chemical that I know of is urine... I know that sounds gross, but your only other real alternative is to put up a fence.
