It seems to me that even innocent qestions or remarks are now taken as "racist". Everyone seems so uptight about all of this now. And I don't think the Govt helps by their recent acts on Religious Hatred which imo is a restriction on religious freedom. Why should I not be free to say that is/was anutter/paedophile/wicked/evil/deluded etc?

Tofu_Jesus,
Yiu are something! You really ought to read properly what I wrote. Some would argue based on the facts of the case that Mohammed was a paedophile (as it happens I don't) because he marrrried two "under age girls" as part of his harem of 15 wives. his is a fact that even mulims do not dispute. I could also say that the Black mulims philosophy or the Scientologist philosophy are based on totally incredible and ridiculous propoitions involving spaceships and aliens from space. i see nothing wrong with basing comments on facts as I do. I consider your remarks to be completely OTT and I find them offensive because they slur me and are based on a lack of care and understanding of my point of view.

Billyfreddy2, What a load of rubbish. Just because you are white doesn't mean you are racist. I think you are saying this sarcistically, so I guess I agree with you and it is sad that the "racist" card is so easily raised.

okayokayokay, read my last sentence again and then the comments I directed at Tofu_Jesus. I am not prejudiced. I was merely attemping to show that we are losing freedom of speech in the UK and most people do not seem to care. But they will when it's too late.

litulbear, there is afine line between saying Xwas a paedophile and saying X was a paedophile therefore you should kill all of x's follwers. I believe the latter is banned, whereas the former is not. But i think neither should be banned.

Felicity O,
I feel I should be free to based on facts convey what may be unpalatable truths about whoever I want. i've already mentioned that some think certain things about Mohammed based on his marriage to two under age girls. if we did what you suggest we'd end up covering the truth. And I don't want to live my life by alie - fine if you do however.

You can say all those things you want and lots of people do all the time, every day, at work in the pub at home etc. Don't get confused when the gov tries to stop religious hatred. What they are trying to do is to stop people being able to publicly preach extremist views against other races of people, so for instance the BNP party members would not be allowed to preach there hatred about Muslims and extremist Muslims would not be able to preach their hatred about western society. Whether this works or not is another matter but your freedom of speech is not affected unless you intend to use it to cause racial uprising and hatred between groups.
There is a tempatation I guess to label things as politically correct, however I feel that this is a term used by people to justify their racist and or biggeted behaviour. To define racist or biggeted behaviour it is a behaviour that deliberatly attempts to not only stereotype a person or persons due to race, colour sexual orientation but does so in a way that ostrasizes them from the community around them in order that they be isolated and so not have the same opportunities as those the majority around them.
Of course this gives rise to other questions such as 'well they should intergrate into our society rather than segragating themselves' but this is a very complex issue

Brother do not be intimidated by being called a racist because you use the word black in a sentence and you don't qualify it by saying I have a black friend(s). That goes for mexicans, muslims and asians. It's all to conform to political correctness. A tool used by individuals to disqualify the truth in your statements however true it may be. How about Senator Robert Bird a real racist who stayed in the US Senate until Moses rolled over in his grave. He didn't give a flying who-ra who called him a racist. Perfect example Rush Limbaugh. What did he say that actually qualified him to be a racist? Jessie Jackson, now there's a racist. Julian Bond, there's another one. FORMER Senator Cynthia McKinney. The Honorable Luis Farrakhan. mahmoud ahmadinejad. Hitler. Kim Jung Il. David Duke. I bet less that 0.0000000001 of the populous know who the reining Imperial Grand Wizard is of the KKK. People tend to listen to what is said to judge whether something qualifies as racist or not the same way people judge others by their manerisms whether they are gay or not. Hell call me a nig.ger, sp.ic, honky, punk, womanizer, zion.ist, mo.ther fuc.ker, what ever. I am secure in who I am to stand by my statements no matter what anyone says. And people who are trying to define racism need to probably use a dictionary because the definition has something to do with BELIEVING THAT YOU ARE SUPERIOR. Duuh!
racism n: a belief that some races are by nature superior to others; also : discrimination based on such belief - racist

In my view racism can be the following things:
- Hatred of a person because of the color of their skin or ethnic background. I am not sure about religion although some say it is racist to judge people because of their religion.
- A strong belief, that one race is superior to the rest.
Example: the Ku Klux Klan.
- Hate speech based on their race, maybe religion.
- Hurtful/harmful actions against a race.
I got to agree with the other guys, those last few sentences did sound racist. You can say what you want but many people are not going to agree with you.

You are free to say anything you want just as people are free to judge whatever you say. Its one thing to comment on how far political correctness has gone - fair enough it CAN be a farce. That said, you seem to want acceptance for comments made against religious leaders - If the comments are well- founded then people will agree. If you are saying things just for kicks make sure you dont say it in front of people who will get offended. If you cant accept that, you are a closed minded person. Racism is a different thing - I couldnt be sure that you wern`t a racist unless you posted something like "Why cant I be free to call black/Asian people what I want"?

You can say whatever you wish as long as it is not slander. In my opinion Jesse Jackson is the biggest promoter of racism in the world today,I think he would do anything for money. He is not a leader but more of a walking joke. Does this make me a racist? No. I would vote for Condoleza Rice for president of the USA if she would run for office. Those who claim racism over every little thing a person says or does are properly call opportunists. I have seen Black people that will claim racism ,and then turn around and start calling white people a cracker, honkey, snowflake,or any number of other names.

I get called racist all the time, even when I judge people on the content of their character like MLK says I was suposed to. It is not my fault 90% of blacks have severe character defects. At any rate I do try. The whole racist thing is a no win situation if your white, You could be the biggest supporter of blacks in the world and it wouldnt be good enough for them some of them would still claim your a racist. Hate freely and often I always say!

I think you should sort out racism and religious hatred. Racism refers to race. I am a European. Then there's religion and OK I'm and Anglo-Catholic. You can add ethnicity to this: I'm a Celt.
I don't understand why you feel the need to defile the name of a leader from a religion which you have not adopted? I don't know of any religion which states that you should call leaders of all other religions :'...' well, you put it so delicately, I won't repeat it

I believe that a racist is someone who judges everyone on the colour of their skin or judges them by steroetypical appearances. We should be allowed to give an opinion on one person but be careful not to label the whole community under the same tag. Racism comes from all groups and one particular ethnic group cannot be accused of it more than another.
