The night after I was released from the hospital after having my daughter, I had severe abdominal pain and was told to go to the nearest ER. After waiting for 3 hours, they let us go back into a room. After waiting another hour, it was 3 or 4 am, we were exhausted from the last two days, and my pain had lessened to the point I thought I could wait until my dr's office opened to get help. I received NO medical services whatsoever. Today, I got a bill for $150. Is this a legal bill?

You should call your insurance provider.... my doctor billed me $450.00 for stopping by for a minute after I had surgery done so I called my insurance (Blue Cross) and they had me fill out forms and took care of it.

This bill is legal as long as they can show they provided you service - they did put you in a room. As to the price of the bill - that may be more for a negotiation between you and the hospital.

Well, if you were in one of the treatment rooms, then yes, technically you were "seen". And I am sure the triage nurse took your temp, blood pressure, pulse, etc before you were sent to the treatment room. Nurses must be paid, the receptionist must be paid, the hospitals are pretty much a rip-off, but they do have to pay people you know. Also, many people go to the ER just because they are hypocondriacs, and we all pay for their stupidity. I am not saying you shouldn't have gone, but many people do.

contest it. Call your insurance and tell the the story. Do not pay even a portion of it.
