I want to call myself Christine, JoAnn or Andrea.
But their not Saint names.
Are these still acceptable?

I am the Religious Education Coordinator of a Catholic parish in Ohio

Christina should be acceptable- it is derived from Christ's name. Christian would also be acceptable.

JoAnn is like Johanna- one of the women who went to the tomb easter morning. ALSO---just occured to me- in can be interpreted as a contraction of JOachim and ANne- the parents of MARY!!!

Andrea is the feminine of Andrew- as in the apostle.

All should be perfectly acceptable.

The point is you are choosing a personal patron for your self in your Confirmation name- a saint to whom you will look to be your guide....someone who was a siiner like you, yet ran the race with perseverance....and is in Heaven!

Blessings on your Confirmation- may the Holy Spirit fill you with the fire of His Love!

No, don't have to be but they believe it makes you more like them if you take on saints names.
