Go 2 a salon & get a pro shampoo, conditioner, & leave in conditioner. If ur going 2 apply any heat 2 ur hair u 1st need to apply a styling product w/o alcohol to protect it. Avoid any hair accessories w/ metal. Avoid brushes they rip through tangles instead of working through them. Never use a brush on wet hair! Hair is 50% more elastic when wet so if a brush hits a tangle in wet hair it will stretch it until the hair breaks. Use a wide toothed comb or pic on wet hair. Split ends (trichoptilosis) have 2 be cut off or will continue 2 split until they break. If after all this u don't have improvement it may b that u have very hard water.

The elements is enough to give you split ends eg the sun. Also if you swim a lot especially in a pool then you will be prone to getting split ends because of the chlorine and other chemicals used to treat the pool. Have your hair dresser clip the ends at least once a month. Make sure you treat the hair with a protein treatment and deep condition regularly. Deep conditioning allows moisture in the hair. Also, use a light hair conditioning spray with a sheen. Split ends usually occur when your hair gets dry and brittle. Here are a couple of sites. Soon you will have great hair. All the best.

Everyone gets split ends. Even those women who look like they have perfect hair. The weather (Dry air, wind, humidity, sun exposure, etc.), some shampoos and conditioners (Especially those with heavy perfume or alchohol), blow dryers, brushing wet hair, over combing or brushing hair, health issues, diet, vitamin intake and absorption, and so many more factors contribute to our hairs health. Most people who look like they have glossy, split end free hair use products that cover up or gloss over the dry ends. You can easily trim your own ends on a regular basis to give your hair a healthier look. Be sure to use sharp scissors. You can also minimize the look of dryness by trying some of the anti frizz or glossing products. Everyones hair is different so you may have to try several different products befor you find the right one for you. Drink lots of water every day. Hydration is key to many of our beauty needs. Unless you have a job that requires you to become very dirty, give your hair a "wash rest" every now and then. Washing hair every day encourages dryness.(I know...it goes against everything we know not to wash hair EVERY day.LOL!) Use cool water when rinsing your hair. This holds moisture in and gives hair that wanted shine. Change your shampoo at least once a week. Using the same shampoo every day can also add to the dryness. I have naturally curly hair so I am always researching and trying new ways to keep my hair soft, shiny, and split end free(Or at least looking split end free). It takes a little extra work but it is worth it.

Hair is a funny thing, It is all protein. My wife had problems with split ends and she as well has had long hair all her life. Be careful what shampoo you use as well a conditioners. a cheep brand of either will leave a plastic residue on your hair thus causing split ends. also never comb you hair. Use a hair pick and during the drying stages slowly run the pick through your hair. My wife goes outside and lets the outside air aid her in drying. She runs the hair pick thought her hair and used the outside air as a aid for drying. Hope it will help you.! She also has about 1inch cut off every 6mo. Good Luck!

i agree that it needs more protein but theres a better way to take care of your hair then having to eat extra.
You should try putting natural oils in your hair, not baby oil or hair oil though. Use coconut oil or olive oil. Yah, i know sounds gross but its a traditional remedy that not only keeps hair from getting super frizzy, it keeps it shiny, healthy, soft, and minimizes split ends.
Coconut oil- comes from coconuts (obviously) and is super rich in proteins, its kinda translucent white because of that and is a little less viscous than honey. Use it like a conditioner except except after a shower and leave it in until the next one. Start by taking a little (about the size of a nickel or quarter) in the palm of your hand, then use your finger tips and apply directly to your roots first. Use as much oil as you need so far, but afterr the roots, take some oil and smear it over your finger and palms, and start from your roots and work your way up, rubbing the hair to work the oil in between starnds to coat each hair. And your done, but make sure you don't use too much oil othere wise your head'll feel like a grease-trap. ick
Olive oil- less greasy but also not so efficient in severe dry/damage or split ends. Use it the same way as coconut oil.
Natural oils will work for hair cuz your hair is made from proteins and that is what they are rich in. Sometimes your hair doesn't get enough from your diet or just won't absorb it from the food you eat, so you have to fortify hair directly. Plus, since its au natural, coconut/olive oils will never harm you, even if you're allergic to them, because your using them on your body's exterior.

You need a haircut starting from where the breakage begins. I know that seems drastic but you need to get rid of the breakage or it will only continue to split. If you have a hard time letting go try going to a good stylist and have them trim your ends once a month this keeps your hair healthy and breakage free. Also, use only quality products such as Nexuus to care for your hair and minimize using heat such as blow dryers and curling irons try rolling your hair. This will surely get your hair healthy and growing.

some people just have hair that is more prone to breakeage no matter what. Water conditions, heat and too much sun could also play a big part in the health of your hair. Just trim regularly so they aren't as noticeable.
