In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
Love and blessings

God loves him. Does God like what he chose to do? No. See satan (aka: lucifer) was God's #1 angel in heaven before lucifer wanted to try and take over God's job in heaven. Considering this did not sit well with God, and to this day still does not...God cast him out of the heavens and made him god of this realm...earth. But just because he cast him out does not make God love him any less. It just means God could only stand by the principles He put in place. Just because we love someone does not mean we give them preferencial treatment on any circumstance. Love does not make special preferences for people indvidually; love is all encompassing and love is shown through a multitude of ways. So just because satan was cast out, does not make him loved any less. God just hates the sin that is in his heart. But satan chooses not to see that love; he chooses to continue being angry and getting his revenge on God by trying to break God's greatest creation...mankind.

God loves Satan for the man he is.... (Or better said God loves Satan because Satan is Satan and not God.)

God loves Satan as He loves everyone. He just hates the sin, not the sinner. Satan would never be happy in Heaven as well as his followers so why would God want to subject them to that when they would not be happy? HE loves them enough to let them be destroyed forever so they don't have to live in agony in Heaven, a place where there is nothing but love and peace. Hell fire will go out and those that were in it will be burned up and be no more. Very clear there will be no eternal life in Hell but death to those that go there.

NO! He loved Lucifer. But Lucifer fell, and through the transgression of pride became satan: satan meaning "adversary" or "accuser". It's like saying God loves people to be liars.

I'm sure in satan fell on his knees and confess Jesus Christ, that God could and would foregive him. But we all know from His word, that's not going to happen.

My opinion is that God hates Satan and He certainly doesn't like Him and I'll tell you why. First Jesus commands us to love our enemies. In its context Jesus was telling us to love our human enemies, not especially wicked demons. He commanded us to love and pray for our enemies and do good to them. How can we do good to a demon, or even pray for a demon. Jesus was telling us to love our human enemies because in truth they are not our enemies, but Satan who is influencing them.
Of course you know that God loves the sinner but hates the sin. Satan is not a sinner, he is sin...just like God doesn't have love, God is love. Now Jesus said that there is no truth in Satan and there is no light in Him. The main difference between fallen men and fallen angels is that Jesus died to save men from there sin because he loved us so much. Jesus never died for fallen angels, or demons (this includes Satan). Wouldn't you be led to believe that if God loved Satan, a fallen angel, as much as he loves us humans, would not Jesus have died for them also? Jesus never died for fallen angels because He doesn't love them, He hates them...they are His enemy and they are bent on destroying everything He created including Him.
Even when God hates a thing it is still good, so God is not wrong for hating Satan and the rest of the fallen angels. One other major thing that separates fallen angels and fallen man is how they rebelled. The angels chose to conspire against God and overthrow His power and authority. Humans on the other hand were decieved by the angels and humans never had the intent to overthrow God...they were just stupid. I hope I answered your question effectively.

Perhaps a definition of love beyond the human, material level of lust would define this issue. Satan was a manmade construct to control the minds of the masses.
