I have lived all over the Bible Belt and then in the big city as well. I would like to redefine "stuck up" as more of a self-righteous, overconfident, my-way-or-the-highway attitude. I have found that certain christian communities and churches do have that attitude. If you disagree, or have a different interpretation or opinion, they will try to convert you so you can remain in the community. If, in the end, you fail to embrace their attitudes and opinions and beliefs, then you are shunned. The most solid christian communities are formed with a very strong leadership and an almost military group-ethic where everybody is "on the same page" as far as a majority of beliefs about God and especially the interpretation of the bible. Other churches are more general, and have a looser control over the absolute beliefs of the parishoners, but those communities aren't necessarily as tight as the smaller, more intense groups. These larger churches, the more general ones, have many of the Easter/Christmas people and tend to be a lot less self-righteous and more accepting.
Your statement is a little bit general, but I do understand it. In my own spiritual searches, I have met many different people. The people who believe in the Bible the deepest tend to be the people with the most rock-hard opinions about spirituality and truth, where everything is black and white. Other spiritual groups, such as zen monks, buddhists, wiccans, etc., have a much more open world view and as I experienced them, little or no self-righteous "stuck up" or superior behaviors. What is interesting is the Jewish community I came to know did not seem to have those high-strung opinions, but then again, I was not tring to convert to Judaism. I think that's kind of interesting.
PS--Whats the WONG?

I know alot of Christians who are really nice and tolerant but must admit to knowing and meeting alot of stuckups.
Just sitting on the fence, I think the stuck up behaviour could be due to a sense of religious and affluence superiority against the pagans. In my part of the world, the Christians are better educated than the non-English speaking majority (Asia).
To your question, I find the Catholics more stuck up compared to the Christians.
