I mean, will they allow you to register a car purchased in the USA in Ecuador? I know for a fact that you are prohibited from doing that in Colombia, so I want to know if that's the case in Ecuador as well.

The person who answered your question first is absolutely right except for one major detail. the car must be no less than two years old, you have to carefully choose the port to bring it into (Manta or Guayaquil), the fees that they are going to charge you to import the car will be staggering in itself, and you will catch hell getting it from the Aduanas (Customs Officials) at the docks. It is a very corrupt country but you can hire an attorney and they can work something out for you. I live there and I'm married to an Ecuadorian citizen and I've been through the process of shipping my cars down there. Getting a good price on shipping is easy if you ship from the south (Miami, Mobile, etc.) and Maersk is the best. I hope this helped you.
