Tourettes is a neurological condition. It is lifelong and there is not a cure (yet!). It is not degenerative. It is migratory. Tourettes does not impede intelligence or ability to learn. Symptoms include motor tics and vocal tremors.

The most misunderstood and (unfortunately) well known symptom is coprolalia (swearing). However, this symptom occurs in a very small number of patients and is not a requirement for diagnosis.

You're probably referring to Tourette's Disorder. Basically, it's a disorder in the brain that makes the person twitch, yelp, yell out, or something of that sort. They can't be controlled, and these are called ticks. As of right now, there is no cure. People with Tourette's have difficulty concentrating and reading due to the distractions they make uncontrollably.

It's Tourette's syndrome (Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome) and it's an abnormal condition that's characterized by facial grimaces, tics, involuntary arm and shoulder movements. In adolescence the condition worsens to include grunts, snorts and involuntary shouts . Coprolalia (use of obscene language) often develops. In adulthood this condition usually lessens and tends to come and go. Dopamine antagonists have been found to be very effective demonstrating that the syndrome has an organic cause.

Generally you will see repeated motions by a person or a person who repeats the same words over and over. Luckily, medicine can help limit this order and most live normal lives.
