no it is not. it is simply stopping the fertilization of an egg.
but in the catholic religion birth control is a sin. people are not suppose to have s*x for pleasure but only to reproduce. so i guess were all sinners

Some forms of birth control are murder. The pill and IUDs are abortifacients.
God created the female reproductive system in such a way that there are only a few days each month in which she can become pregnant. So, I think God himself is for regulating births. I don't think people have to run out and have as many babies as possible, because that wouldn't be prudent.
What we are asked to do is to be open to life. We can get to know our own bodies and respect their life giving potential.
By using Natural Family Planning rather than Artificial Birth control couples can work in concert with God and nature in planning their families. NFP relies on a woman getting to know her body and encourages communication between spouses. If a couple practices NFP, there is less chance that the husband will view his wife as an object that is there for his pleasure. Their relationship will be strengthened not only by the communication, but also by the mutual sacrifice if they must wait a few days to have relations. Their love will be more sacrificial and less selfish, and that is what true love is.

I think the reason this came up is because there is more than one type of birth control pill and then prevent pregnancy in different ways.
One prevents conception in the first place and is not considered murder or destruction of a fertilized egg.
The other form of birth control pill stops the fertilized egg from implanting into the uterus and this is considered a form of abortion by many people.
As for all the other 'what if's', if you are meant to have a child believe me you will! My second son was a wonderful surprise but if you went by the odds he never 'should have' been conceived when he did (I still am amazed when I think about it) but he was because he was meant to be.

If there was no birth control there would be more starving people. There would be more war, and fewer resources. The poor would be poorer and the crime rate would rise, all because of more children. Birth control is a blessing. If parents don't take responsibility for their reproductive responsibilities, the entire world could end up like Africa. No country, no parents, no society could handle each couple bearing ten children, even if three of them died before adulthood. Disease was the natural birth control, but now that so few people are dying of natural causes at a young age, chemical birth control is necessary.

Using your idea, we would have lots more mouths to feed and more taxes as there would be so many more poor and starving, more on welfare and noplace to live as there would be so many there would be no place to live. Is that responsible living? Do you control your food intake, your temper, your speed that you travel down the road, or even the amount of exercise you do? Are any of those things wrong in your mind? Then why would it be murder not to have a lot of kids that you are surmising you are supposed to have? Why would you be required to have any certain number of kids anyway, expecially if you could not afford to feed and clothe them? That is just ludicrous. Birth control is not murder but it would be in you were to abort the fetus when it was begun or if you had that baby only to starve it just so you could have your number of babies you could. Birth control is being responsible as a human being and it kills nothing as it prevents life from starting in the first place. How would that be murder in anyones eyes? If I prevent you from killing someone, are you guilty of murder? Maybe you had murder in your heart but you killed nobody so you would not be tried as a murderer, would you? Yeah, just think how many there would be if not for any responsibility with the birth control. Billions of starving kids, adults, and mass graves for all those dying every day from starving to death. Nice sight to think on, isn't it? Use some good sense and be responsible as God told us to be. Have only the number of kids you can afford to take care of and no more. Not murder but responsible.

This doesnt really answer your question but regarding the one about people being alive if there is no birth control. I remembered something I read in Freakomics saying that when abortion was legalized in the States, crime went down a few years after. That is because those who have unwanted pregnancies tend to have an awful life, who in the future have children who grow up resorting to crime to get their life's basic needs. When abortion was given a go by the government, it wiped out most of the possible criminals.

Sure, good idea. Let's ban birth control so enough people would be alive so that the whole planet would be plunged into poverty, disease, famine and war.
Birth control is not murder, since no one is born yet, no one is conceived yet and if you believe there is a God, then probably God is capable of finding another body for that sould to be born into.
Did it ever occur to you that these supposedly wise religious leaders are just interested in wealth and power?

But wait a minute. Doesn't this controvene free will?
"Supposed" is an odd word, as it places perconceived notions on others.
I was supposed to have a career in the movies, but I don't.
is that my fault or society's fault. And who says I was "supposed" to have a career?
What if I had the kids, but my wife miscarried? What then?
Birth control is no more "murder" than masturbation or having a period.
And think of how many more people would be alive if we didn;t have genocide.

just producing kids without having the means to take care of them properly would be a lot worse then perhaps have less kids than maybe was intended for you. As long as you can give the kids you do get a good life & education than that must surely be a lot more valuable.
