This is a tough one.
Girls develop at different times. Usually between the ages of 10-12.. Some a bit earlier some a bit later. Girls should wear a bra as soon as they begin developing.
In the case of late bloomers the girl may not be developing but may still want a bra because other girls her age are already wearing them.
The best rule of thumb is if you notice development (signs are tenderness and growth usually the first growth can be seen in the nipples as the puff up the rest of the breast develops there after) and/or the girl says she wants a bra. Get a bra.
Sports bra styles are generally the most comfortable and easiest for young girls to manage. The fabric is softer on tender developing breasts and the mechanics of putting them on and removing them is easier than the traditional back hook variety...

It depends on the girl. Some girls are a little over weight, and even at the age 5 they have a little extra fat in that area and should probably wear a training bra. They make some for that exact purpose, and you can find them with cinderella, or minnie mouse, or flowers on them. Otherwise I would say maybe 10. Even if a girl isn't developed there by then, alot of other girls in her grade will be, and will be wearing a bra. You don't want her to feel left out or akward.

I would think 11 or 12 or before if she's developing. Girl's get real self concious about there chests before they even have anything. They don't want anything to show. My 7 yr old wants a bra, but I think that's too young..........

When her chest is no longer flat. There is no set age. Its all about puberty and maturing. No girl wants to be picked on because her nipples are poking out of her shirt.
