My God, loveamerica actually has a point! It is a non-immigration point, however, until you draw the dots that the only cheap imports aren't the goods, but also the cheap illegal labor driving wages down to crises level...

but still, it is a point!

I saw these articles, and yes, localities are looking for anything they can do to stem the problem. The localities feel it most in schools and health care. Since the federal government does not pay for those services it is far too easy for them to ignore.

In fact, Congressional Budget pegged the cost of the Senate Bill at only 127 billion over the next ten years. Of course that does not take into account state and local costs. Even at the exact same population (no guest workers above those here and no absent family) LA County alone paid $1 billion in services to illegals last year for County costs, and California paid $10 Billion. Take California's $10 billion over 1 year, don't add any more people (and the Senate Bill would add MANY more people) and right there it is another $100 billion of cost for $227 Billion over 10 years. That is looking only at one state.

Of course localities care.

I like the last quote in the first story, there's nothing new, we just started enforcing the law...I've also long felt that if a business can't hold it together while paying legal wages to US citizens,
there's a problem that transcends anything to do with our border enforcement, and the root cause of that problem needs to be figured out.

Thats FANTASTIC!!! Listen, I have NO problem with immigration. My family did it generations ago. But what makes them different is that they did it LEGALLY! You want to come to America? AWESOME, its the greatest country to live in! But do it the right way! Register yourself! Utilize all of the rights it gives you, like VOTING! YOU can make a REAL difference in this country, and we WELCOME that! But be LEGIT, not some sneaky guy trying to make a tax free income. It's not fair for the rest of us because our tax dollars pay for your childrens' educations and for the mother-effing border patrol to keep you from SNEAKING IN!

The more we circumvent the federal government the better chance we have of ridding the USA of illegals.....very sad isn't it that our government is so corrupt we must fight them to try to retain some of our tax dollars for the good of middle-class Americans......
