It's pretty much a given that in states such as ours - NM - that border Mexico, there are illegal aliens. Since the government estimates there are 11 million illegal aliens here, it would be surprising in CA, TX, or NM if you weren't living close by one.
However, legal immigrants look pretty much like illegal ones. There's little in appearance to differentiate them - indeed, the idea is to merge with the legal population, otherwise you'll end up being deported.

I know they are here...NM. Where I live they don't even try to "fit" in. They don't have to because the Feds don't enforce the law. I have noticed here that the men don't bring their ladies with them when they get all dressed up in their Western hats, sharp toed boots, bright shirts and Big belt buckles. They make it known where they are from. Why should they care?
In my part of the state we have almost a majority of Spanish speaking neighbors and I can assure you they like the illegals as much as their English speaking friends.

How could I know; having other nationalities in the neighborhood does not make them illegal...I have Portuguese speakers on my street; they are wonderful neighbors and speak English.

I am sure there is but I don't go getting involved in my neighbors lives. What they have done is their business. All my neighbors are good people and I have never had a problem out of any of them so I choose not to go around name calling.

No clue.
A year ago I'd have been sure there wasn't . But then I didn't know about people coming from other income groups or staying for years and years, so it is possible, I suppose.

No - not my neighborhood but surely my city... (near FW) I contacted the mayor & was lectured extensively when I ask him to consider passing city ordinances so the city cops could do what our federal government SHOULD do......catch & deport illegals, fine or imprison business owners that hire them and the people that provide them housing.....
NO AMNESTY (by any name)
LOCAL & STATE ENFORCEMENT
REPEAL THE 14TH AMENDMENT

if it is illegal...then why such a tolerance for it? shouldnt our government do something about it? if american citizens did ANYTHING illegal...we would be in trouble for it. they get caught using stolen ss cards/numbers but nothing happens. if we did any kind of ss number fraud, we would go straight to jail. i know the companies in Texas would rather have non english speaking illegals than pay a legal american ...
