Assuming that the fight wasn't held in Chavez's back yard a la Pernell Whittaker in San Antonio, Willie Pep would win a dominant decision. I'm a huge Chavez fan, but I honestly don't think he'd have a shot against one of the smoothest, quickest, tactically excellent fighters to ever step in the ring. A lot of boxing experts make the case that Pep was "pound for pound" the best ever (though I'd probably go with Sugar Ray Robinson) and he certainly had some of the quickest hands and best defense in boxing history. I see this fight much in the same way as Leonard/Duran II or Mayweather/Corrales with the great all around boxer making the other guy look almost foolish.

Willie Pep was probably one of the greatest boxers in history. He had quick feet and hands and was a pretty good puncher. In this bout if he remains fast and elusive he can win. Chavez is also an all time great and would definetley have the edge in power. I see in this fight a very fast and elusive Pep frustrating Chavez and his attempt to cut off the ring from the clever Pep. Chavez would land the harder punches but Pep would survive using his great boxing ability. I believe this bout would go 15 with Pep looking worse than Chavez but still winning the decision. Great question as usual Brent F!

Pep - W 230 (KO's 66) TF 242 - W pct 95% - KO pct 27% - wins over C. Wright, P. DeMarco and R. Famechon - KO'ed by "Kid" Basey and S. Saddler - #6 ranked fighter
His only minus is that he was dominated by Saddler.
Chavez - W 108 (KO's 86) TF - W pct 97% - KO pct 74% - wins over Ramirez, Bumpus, Lockridge and Limon - KO'ed by Tszyu and Del LaHoya - #50 ranked puncher - #18 ranked fighter
Titles at 130, 135 and 140.
Pep was dominated by Saddler who was a dirty fighter. We all know that Chavez was a dirty fighter. In this fight, Chavez pulls out every dirty trick in the book and has Saddler as his trainer. If Chavez doesn't get disqualified he can win a super highly controversial majority decision.

willie pep was one of the greatest fighters of all time, with well over 200 wins and maybe a dozen losses. Pep had great speed and manuverability with his opponets. His matches with saddler were classics.pep would win a very close decision over 15 rounds against a very tough chavez.

i think of that's a no-brainer, Floyd for constructive. Floyd has international titles in 5 weight divisions. And he's gained IBF, IBO, and WBC welterweight titles. Chavez jr. has 2 titles that are continental, no longer international titles. Chavez jr. by no ability boxed an entire 12 rounds. i've got not heard of any of the adult men he's fought. i do no longer understand who trains him, although if plainly like he's being hand fed combatants. He hasn't fought a international contender no longer to show a international call holder. Now that Julio is previous 23 yrs previous and he's 6 toes. he's a genuine lightmiddleweight. Floyd isn't that substantial. He enters the hoop at possibly 154; Julio jr. ould be 10 lbs heavier. I nevertheless think of Floyd outboxes him. Floyd is extra advantageous while the boxer is extra aggressive. impressive cases while Folyd completed badly against aggressive combatants: Castillo a million (i think of Floyd misplaced), Castillo 2.
