I couldn't find any reference to jackseed berries, but apparently jack in the pulpit produces berries - do they look like the berries in the picture at this link?

Definitely don't eat them without knowing for sure what they are!!

That's a very good question. Without knowing what type of tree it is, it's hard to say if the berries are poisonous or not. Sorry we couldn't help you out further. Ask the neighbor or someone what type of tree it is and we'll go from there.

these are poisonous. one will make the mouth start to swell and the more you have, the more your mouth and throat will swell. If a berry is red it is usually an indication to stay away.

Worryingly there are people who appear to suggest that if the birds eat them then they are OK, this is not the case! Birds can safely eat things that we can't, and vice-versa!

Give them to a kid you don't like in the neighborhood and see if he gets sick. If he does, they're probably poisonous.

JUST KIDDING.

Take them to a garden center and ask someone there.

I'm pretty sure they are, they will only make you sick but could be worse to young children/elderly and pregnant women
