Thanks for your question, and it sounds like you have been talking to Catholics. Trust me, wine has nothing to do with the cleansing of sin. I believe you are refering to "take this cup" in communion. Thousands of church's and millions of believers follow the Scripture "do this in rememberance of me" as a worship act, remembering and finding peace in the fact that the act of cleansing and purifying of sin is fully complete.

The Bible is clear, the work at Calvary is complete, was done by the real blood of Jesus Christ and is offered as a free gift (life cannot be bought and sold - it is a free gift) and has nothing to do with literal wine.

Thanks for the question!

I have heard that what was considered wine in biblical times was not the same as what we call wine today. They didn't not have perservatives, so in truth, wine was just fermented grapes/fruit. But I can't back that up as 100% true so I will leave it at that. I don't believe that the persons whose faith requires a drink of wine as holy sacrament are alcoholics, for one thing. Taking part of a religious ceremony does not indicate someone has a drinking problem. I am southern baptist and when we take the Lord's Supper, we don't use wine, we use grape juice. Plain old Welchs Grape Juice. We don't believe we are literally drinking Jesus's blood and eating His body as some faiths do, it is all symbolic. Personally speaking, I don't drink alcohol of any sort and I am a Christian--so yes, it is possible to be a Christian and not be an alcoholic--one has nothing to do with the other.

Sure can. In the bible it talks of two kinds of wine, the fermented and the unfermented or the pure fruit of the vine, grape juice. A christian is not to use the fermented kind that makes you stupid and doing things that if in your right state of mind you would never do. see Prov. 20. In Is. 65:8 you find the wine that is in the cluster is what you should drink. But the one you leave alone is that found in Prov. 20:1 and Prov. 23:26-33. God says to leave the alcohol out of your life but Satan wants you to have it in so it will ruin you so how better than to make it part of what God said to do with something that can be misunderstood. Wine is one thing that is so commonly misunderstood and so many condone the taking in of the alcohol but reject the idea that pure wine, or grape juice, could be good for you or that it could be used as the product Jesus was speaking of when He said a little wine was good for you. Or that He made wine at the wedding supper. If God said it was so bad before, why would Jesus make it, the alcohol, for a wedding feast that is going to make people act so stupid? Just does not fit with His character. It was not the alcoholic wine that He made but the pure grape juice fresh and clean.

No.
First, non-alchoholics have no worry about drinking wine.
Secondly, most of the churches that I know have grape juice rather than wine. United Methodists are against alchohol consumption. Whether United Methodists, UCC members, etceteras are considered "True Christians" is something for Catholics and Baptists to determine.

The last supper wine was most likely not concentrated alchohol. Water wasn't preferred, again most likely, due to pollution/bacteria at the time.

Christ's blood was shed long ago and the communion service is in rememberance of that. I have heard that Catholics have the point in time where the wine BECOMES the blood of Christ.

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/05572c.htm : The name given to the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar in its twofold aspect of sacrament and Sacrifice of Mass, and in which Jesus Christ is truly present under the bread and wine.

Communion is a time of remembering and anticipating His return.

1 Corinthians 11 11:26. For as often as you shall eat this bread and drink the chalice, you shall show the death of the Lord, until he come.

Wine is not considered the Blood Of Jesus only used in some religions symbolic of the Communion or the same as Jesus used in the Last Supper. Eph.5:18 "Be not drunk with wine where in excess..." I don't drink because it's a choice therefore I'm a believer.

There isn't a requirement to drink wine. Many churches use grape juice during communion and not wine. Now you have to think of your meanings --- Alcoholic to me is someone who drinks excessively and does not use alcohol is a wise manner. Were a non alcoholic can drink in moderation. I think you are refering to someone who abstains from alcohol altogether. I think that each christians walk with christ is an individual one. So one person may fill comfortable having a sip of wine where another one may not. It is what the holy spirit lies on your heart.

Our churches NEVER give wine during communion. We give grape juice. During conversion there is no type of ceremony. You just go to the altar and pray. The blood of Jesus is spiritually applied when we repent of our sins.

i dont think being non-alchoholic would totally screw up all chances of getting to heaven, since getting to heaven is easy, you do it through Jesus, but....those who believe alchohol is evil and believe the Bible are entirely wrong, Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine, so how could one of Jesus' first miracles be evil? But im really really sure that being non-alchoholic is gonna screw up your chances of getting to heaven.
