It is mentioned in the book of Isaiah chapter 29 verse 12:
"And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned."
Does it ring a bell???

OR
John chapter 14 verse 16:
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever."

Gospel of John chapter 15 verse 26:
"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me"

Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 7:
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not
come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you".

Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Sprit. They fail to realise
that the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (pbuh) departs will the Comforter come. The Bible states that the
Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (pbuh), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (pbuh) was being baptised, etc.

Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 12-14:
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is
come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me".

prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned by name in the old testament:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by name in the Song of Solomon chapter 5 verse 16:

"Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem."

"His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters
of Jerusalem."

In the Hebrew language im is added for respect. Similarely im is added after the name of Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) to make it Muhammadim. In English translation they have even translated the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as "altogether lovely", but in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is yet present.

Do you really think the Holy Spirit is so confined that He cannot come to Earth and go back to Heaven when He wishes to? Or that He cannot be in both places at once? Just because He was there before with Elizabeth or at Jesus baptism, does not mean He needs to be with Jesus followers when Jesus is with them. Jesus was there to instruct them, to protect them and guide them into the truth and be a comforter to them while He was there. What need is there for the Holy Spirit when they had Jesus to do the job for Him while He was on the Earth? Only when Jesus would no longer be with they would they really need the Holy Spirit to come to them and be with them, to guide them in all they were to do. And when He did come, did He not do just as Jesus said He would? The Holy Spirit was present all the time but His followers did not understand that at that time so how could Jesus have said it so they could understand that He would come be with them when Jesus went back to Heaven? If you are working in a company and the boss says he will send you a helper, does that mean that the helper does not work there already or could it be that you just did not need a helper as you had one already that helped with all you needed? When that helper went, you needed someone to take his place so the boss sent you someone to help you that would take the place of the one that left. Could be the one that was five feet from you all the time but the boss sent him all the same. Even though the Holy Spirit was there all the time, the Apostles did not realize He was there but Jesus had to let them know they would not be all alone but that He would send the Comforter to be with them and guide them as He could not be there. Not so difficult if you just think about it.

It's certainly not written about Mohammed, much as you wish it were, since Mohammed was not spirit, nor did he come to the disciples who were long dead by the time Mohammed entered the cave. Nor does the Bible anywhere call Gabriel the spirit of truth. Make what claims you will for Mohammed, but attempts to read him back into the OT and NT amount to straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel. If God wanted to make him self clear, all Jesus needed to do is say, "612 years after my death I will send the Angel Gabriel to Mecca where he will dictate a book to a fellow named Mohammed, and you all better listen to what he says." But these "prophecies" are never clear, which is why your religion and every other manages to find proof that they are true and others false in the self-same "prophecy." If there is a God I would expect that God to be able to make Himself clear and unequivocal at least as well as a school child, but He never seems able to speak in the kind of plain language that a "prophet" could get stoned for if untrue. There's always room to weasel out with another "interpretation."

The Holy Spirit was present from creation and did work through people before the day of Pentecost. But he worked only in a few people now and then.

On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit was poured out upon all (willing to receive) flesh. 120 in the upper room received Him. Maybe all of the 3000 did also.

Ever since then the Holy Spirit has been working in thousands and millions of people around the world.

(Isa_29:11, Isa_29:12): “The vision of all the prophets, true and false, has become to you as the words of a book, or letter, that is sealed up; you cannot discern the truth of the real visions and the falsehood of the pretended ones.” Or, every vision particularly that this prophet had seen for them, and published to them, had become unintelligible; they had it among them, but were never the wiser for it, any more than a man (though a good scholar) is for a book delivered to him sealed up, and which he must not open the seals of. He sees it is a book, and that is all; he knows nothing of what is in it. So they knew that what Isaiah said was a vision and prophecy, but the meaning of it was hidden from them; it was only a sound of words to them, which they were not at all alarmed by, nor affected with; it answered not the intention, for it made no impression at all upon them. Neither the learned nor the unlearned were the better for all the messages God sent them by his servants the prophets, nor desired to be so. The ordinary sort of people excused themselves from regarding what the prophets said with their want of learning and a liberal education, as if they were not concerned to know and do the will of God because they were not bred scholars: It is nothing to me, I am not learned. Those of better rank pretended that the prophet had a peculiar way of speaking, which was obscure to them, and which, though they were men of letters, they had not been used to; and, Si non vis intelligi, debes negligi - If you wish not to be understood, you deserve to be neglected. Both these are groundless pretences; for God's prophets have been no unfaithful debtors either to the wise or to the unwise, Rom_1:14. Or we may take it thus: - The book of prophecy was given to them sealed, so that they could not read it, as a just judgment upon them; because it had often been delivered to them unsealed, and they would not take pains to learn the language of it, and then made excuse for their not reading it because they were not learned. But observe, “The vision has become thus to you whose minds the god of this world has blinded; but it is not so in itself, it is not so to all; the same vision which to you is a savour of death unto death to others is and shall be a savour of life unto life.” Knowledge is easy to him that understands.

The comforter is the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, the spirit came and went as needed, He did not permanently dwell in the hearts of the believers until Acts. To say Mohammad is the comforter is utterly ridiculous. What comfort is there in someone who was blood thirsty and brought much pain and suffering into the world?

John 16:12 -14 shows it could not be Mohammad since it says "He shall glorify Me". Did Mohammad glorify Christ? No.

Isaiah 29:12 is talking about "him that is not learned" or illiterate people. i think this is talking about the confusion people have about the bible in general. how to interpret it, how to read it.... that God made it so we don't understand everything...

John 14:16 is talking about the holy spirit

John 15:26 the holy spirit again and Jesus is talking about how you will know the spirit is truly from God

John 16:7 the holy spirit

i don't know what you are talking about the holy spirit being in the womb of Elizabeth....Jesus was talking about the holy spirit in these verses. the holy spirit is God. the spirit of God, the unseen spirit of Christ.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit (Comforter) did not come and dwell in men's flesh until after Jesus arose. The Holy Spirit was always here, but the body of man was too sinful to have the new wine of the Holy Spirit place in him until after the born again experience.

2006-08-26 03:51:44 · answer #9 · answered by tobinmbsc 4 · 0 0

If you go back and read you find that the Holy Spirit would come and go, however, He did not come to stay until Jesus ascended, then He came and now lives in the hearts of believers. When Jesus come back and we go up with Him in the Rapture then at that time the Holy Spirit will go back to Heaven with us, and like in the Old Testament He will come and go again until the final day.

Are you a Muslim?

The Holy Spirit had not been poured out on a large scale. It was only giving to a few. One here and one there. Now the Holy Spirit is available to all whom believe on Jesus Christ.
