What any one person chooses to do with or to their own body is no one else's business. Why someone would be "doomed" for expressing their self is beyond reason.

I don't think that is the reason not to get a tattoo or extreme piercing. I've sort of found that the people we are at 18 are far from the people we become at 30. If I had a major tattoo or piercing I'd never be able to have the career I have now. Also, I can't think of any picture I would have wanted on my body at 18 that I would want now, either.

One excellent reason that people should carefully consider before getting tattooed is that right now it's quite a fad. But fads change every few years.
What seem like great pictures right now, will be considered ugly disfigurations a few years from now.
When clothing goes out of style, it's easy to just chuck into the garbage, not so with tattoos.
Another thing to consider is that when you're grtting up in age, and your little grand daughter says, " Grandpa ( or Grandma) why do you have those ugly pictures on your skin"? What will your answer be ?
Being non-religious, I have no idea of how tattoos will be explained to the Gods. But they sure might cause future problems here on earth.
My idea is that you shouldn't do anything that can't easily be undone when conditions change.

First let me state that I don't have a problem with tattoos or piercings.

Many will quote a verse in Leviticus which says "Don't cut or tattoo yourselves..." but they leave off the words "For the dead". Body art in itself can be quite beautiful, but I think the idea is that it shouldn't be used as a tool to invoke the power of ghosts or fall into other ancient Canaanite rituals. That cultural applicability is very weak today, so I don't believe tats are a problem. Enjoy!

There is absolutely nothing immoral about getting a tattoo or a peircing so long as the marking does not defame God by what is says or what part of the body it is placed upon. I want to highlight a more important issue based on what you said though. many people believe that they are going to be in eternity in soul-form only.
The Bible tells us a glorious truth: Not only will our souls live forever, but if we know Christ, one day God will give us new bodies—bodies that will never perish, or ever experience sickness or pain again.

No, I can't imagine exactly what this will be like—but I know it's true, for God has promised it. When Christ rose from the dead, He had a new body—similar to what it had once been, and yet in other ways different. No longer was He limited by time and space, for example. The same will be true of us, for someday God "will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body" (Philippians 3:21).

Every obituary ... every cemetery ... every twinge of pain reminds us that someday this life will be over and we will enter eternity. Tragically, however, many people never think about death or bother to prepare for it. But denying it or ignoring it won't make it go away. The Bible warns, "Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

But listen: We don't need to fear God's judgment—not if we know Christ! The reason is because He took upon Himself our judgment and our Hell when He died on the cross for us. All our sins were transferred to Him, and He died in our place. Make sure of your salvation by giving your life to Christ today.
I am convinced there is life after death for one reason: Jesus Christ died and was placed in a tomb—and two days later came back to life.

Think about it a moment: What would it take to prove to us that there is life after death? The answer is clear: Someone would have to die, and then come back to life again. It wouldn't be enough for them to have a so-called "near-death" experience; their death would have to be real. And it wouldn't be enough for only one or two people to see them; it would require many witnesses.

But has this ever happened? Yes—when Jesus Christ rose from the grave! His death was real; hard-bitten Roman guards made sure He was dead before they took Him down from the cross. And His resurrection was real also, because hundreds saw Him during the next forty days. Paul, writing over 25 years later, noted that "he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living" (1 Corinthians 15:6).

How could this happen? It happened because Jesus Christ was not just another man. He was God's only Son, sent from heaven to save us from our sins. Only He could say, "I am the resurrection and the life. ... Whoever lives and believes in me will never die" (John 11:25-26). This can be your hope, by giving your life to Christ today.

I believe you have the right to do whatever you wish to your own body. I personally don't have tattoos and I only have my ears pierced twice but I don't condemn any other human being for their choice to pierce or tattoo themselves.

Whoever you have been talking to misinterprets the Bible.

The passages they are referring to are found in Leviticus. The passages say "Do not cut yourself or make marks upon your skin." (My paraphrase) People take this verse out of context though...it is speaking on idol worship and people cutting themselves and marking on their skin in idol worship.

You're good to get a tattoo or piercing.

Since the body is a temple, tattoos, etc. are considered to b similar to graffiti on a building.

Happy Sabbath.

Some people are just closed minded idiots with no regard for personal rights and preferences. It's your body, do what you wish.
