By keeping your teeth clean and the gums healthy, you should avoid disease. It won't hurt the enamel.

I was brushing my teeth five times a day and my dentist reamed me a good one. I would say no more than 3 times a day, and that is pushing it. If you are worried about your enamel, use a battery operated toothbrush. It is more gentle and effective. If you brush too much, you will get a receding gumline, where the gums get pushed back and it looks like you have a cavity but the gum just isn't covering the tooth.

It's great that you brush you teeth 3 times a day. Make sure that you are using a soft bristle brush and everything should be fine.

You are supposed to brush after meals. Most dentists recommend a soft bristle tooth brush.

The key is PROPER brushing technique (up and down) and not forcing the brush on your teeth.
