actually...yes the Puerto rRcan flag was designed after the Cuban flag. if you notice its practically the same thing with the colors inverted. the pert Rica political party of the 30' which someone referenced was actually called the "nationalist party" headed by our very own Pedro Albizu Campos. the nationalist party which fought vehemently for Puerto Rico's independence and believed in what was then called the "Caribbean coalition" where the three Spanish speaking colonies would be interconnected...kinda like the EU we see today. anyway...because that was the intention the Dominican, Cuban, and puerto rican flag have alot of similarities. our flag (the puerto rican) was sewn by none other than Mariana Braceti or as they nicknamed her "Brazo de Oro" -golden arm. i believe the first appearance of the flag of Puerto Rico was in a town called Lares.

Back in June 11, 1892 there was a Puertorican Section of the Cuban Revolutionary Party. They pursued Cuba's and Puerto Rico's liberation from Spain. The Cuban flag existed already, because of the unity that characterized both islands Antonio Velez Alvarado from Manati, PR currently in New York decided to design the Puertorican flag just like Cuba's but alternating colors. Micaela Dalmau was the first person to sew the flag.

The flag of Puerto Rico consists of five equal horizontal bands (top & bottom) alternating with white; a blue isosceles triangle based on the hoist side bears a large white five-pointed star in the centre; design based on the Cuban flag.
