Buy a roll of giftwrap, wrap it around your body and be waiting at the door when he comes in. (If you're being intimate! Don't want to imply anything there.)
If you're not to that stage yet, make a coupon book of things you can do for him that you will actually be able to do to help him out, and then make sure you do them! Make it fun, he'll be fine. Guys aren't so wired for things, they like activities.

The best gifts are the ones that cost nothing, I think. Anybody can go out and buy things, but seriously, something crafted and created from the heart is the greatest!
This wasn't a birthday gift, but my girlfriend recently made me a Mix-Tape of songs and stuff that related to our relationship. It was the best thing anybody had ever given me, because quite frankly, she had complied all of memories into that little tape, and it really was so cool.
Maybe you could buy a blank book and put things in it that remind you of the times you've had? Pictures, little things you've kept, stuff like that... you can annotate it and write little notes and messages - it'll be really special because you spent time making it.
That's what I'm gonna do for my girlfriend's 18th birthday.

put away , the night of your boyfriends birthday. lay out candles and light some incense and put on some soft music and put on a sexy neglee . unplug the phone, put a note on the door , do not disturb. have some stawberries out some body lotion. blind folding someone , really heightens the mood better. take a shower together and start out slow , little teasing. etc.

i've done a few things for my girlfriend that didn't cost me much just because she really isn't a materialistic person...but i've found some great ideas on www.lovingyou.com just search under ideas and there are tons of categories, some of which are cheap date or gift ideas good luck

dont worry dear about buying a present if u dnt have money now but just call him i am sure thats true love and u know what to just remember his bithrday i.am sure he will be happy. u know what my boyfriend had his bithday the last two weeks and i just called when he wasnt thinking of his birthday and he said u are so special to me and he was happy becoz i was the first one to remember it .

Choose a favorite photograph of yourself and make a beautiful frame for it using a paper plate, poster board, or cardboard. He will be proud to show it off on his fireplace mantle!

i kno im not a guy but i done this wiht my boyfriend it was a bit cheesy but wt the heck! make him dinner. have candles everywhere and rose petals watch a nice film drink wine just have a romantic night in and appreciate stuff.
