I was in S. Korea for a bit--- some actually like them, and I knew quite a few that were learning Japanese and all. I do know that it has to do with the Japanese trying to invade S. Korea back in the early 1900's, and pretty much erase the Korean culture--- known as genocide. Korean also think they are a bit snobby :)~ and that there culture wasn't as advanced as the Korean culture way back in the days. That's what a Korean friend told me.

To seriously answer this question. Yes, Koreans hate the Japanese ... but this only apply to "some" people who is now between age 40 and 100. I live in Asia for a long time, most people at my age or between 12-39, they kinda like each other. They like each other's music, movie, celebraties, and cultures. By the way, when I say Koreans I only meant South Koreans.

Japam invaded and occupied the Korean penensulabefore and during World War 2. That ended long ago but it was still within the life time of many Koreans. A brital occupation is not something easily forgotten.

When you are conquered and occupied by another country/race it is very difficult to forget and forgive. What would be a better question in this venue is "Why have young South Koreans forgotten that the United States freed them from Japanese occupation and the saved them from living under such repressive communistic governments as China and North Korea?" Are the South Korean schools so inept in teaching history so to fail their students in such a critical era of their history?" Incidentally, I lived and worked in South Korea and it is one of the most racist societies in existence. Bi-racial children, refered to by Koreans, as children of two race are openly taunted and sometimes physically abused by "Pure" Korean children. This could not and does not happen without the knowledge of their parents. American is not the only one with dirty laundry...
