I am pretty sure those things went out with the advent of microwave cooking. I remember my mother had one about 30 years ago and it was just as you described. If you really want relatively greaseless bacon and for it to stay flat, try using a broiler pan and broil it. The new microwave bacon cookers are great though - much better than they used to be. Hope this helps a little.

I think what you may be looking for is a bacon press. I found one on Target's website. It's a heavy cast iron flat piece you put on top of your bacon to flatten it. No model number, sorry, but I used the words "bacon griddle" for my search. Good luck.

What you may be referring to is an electric griddle; they are flat, nonstick (metal) pans that are electric. Amazon sells a Hamilton Beach for $33.22 plus shipping. Here's the info:

Save your time and money and cook your bacon in the oven.
It is wonderful, they always come out flat, cook until you like them, no mess or splattering on the stove.... Such a 'good thing'. Write me if you are interested in temp or more details.

never heard of one like that but i use one that you put in the oven, it's round and metal and it has two parts; the top is for the bacon and the bottom is for the grease. [the top has holes for the grease to go through].

I bake my bacon in the oven on a roaster rack. This way the drippings go into the pan

The George Forman grill works really good. Have you thought of using that? Plus it would be good for cooking steaks as well. Go to Wal-Mart.

If you can't find what you're looking for, try the George Forman, sounds like the same thing.
