For the past week I have had bowel movements upon waking up -- is that normal? The stools appear to be normal and are not loose or watery but look like broken sausage links -- is this normal too?

...good job!! That's what I call a 'successful' morning. Some people like to take a 1/2 cup of hot coffee early 5:30 AM and this will trigger the peristalsis (the action...) Yes, the broken sausage link action works also...You're good to go!

I was always told that bowel movements in the mornings were very normal. If you go at the same time every morning then you are regarded as regular and that is a good thing.

by now you must know that it is perfectly normal. As a matter of fact it is the best time. And th sausages - also perfect - I also feel the best when they are golden yellow.

I was just wondering what other time you had before . I dread having to manage bm any other time.
