My friend has been acting really..funny lately. She finally told me why yesterday since I knew something was wrong. She told me she had been raped.. She didn't tell me by who or anything. I knew she had been keeping it to herself since she was having a hard time telling me. By the time she got done she looked like she was going to cry. I was at her house yesterday and she broke down again just sitting there crying. I really don't know what to do about it. Any suggestions please?

(Sorry, I didn't know what category to put it in )

Definitely go to the police and the hospital so she can get checked out right away. The hospital, I'm sure, will have suggestions on counseling for her. If she refuses, please be someone she can count on to just talk to, and maybe you can "gently" persuade her to get professional help.

That's a very difficult problem, but you have to get her to consult a therapist at the veeeery least. Going to the police would help as well, but if she did not see his face or save any evidence, the person is likely to never be caught.

It's an extreme traumatic experience that has to be faced and dealt with with a professional. She can't just block it out of her head hoping to forget, because the trauma will never really disappear, and bottling something up that is that extreme must definitely not be healthy.

You're probably going to be a large part in helping her get back on her feet, as she confided in YOU about this experience. YOU have to help her. Do everything in your power to persuade her to get help, even if she is 100% against it.

Good luck, but this is just my two cents. Listen to what others have to say, collect opinions, etc. I hope she will make a full recovery from this experience.

Tell her to report it to the police right NOW - pick up the phone and call. She might not get a conviction on the guy, but at least the police will be notified to watch the jerk. She should also seek rape-crisis counseling. Good luck to her - hope they catch the idiot and put his sorry butt in jail for a nice long time!!!

she needs to let someone in authority know whats happened to her.
especially if it was from someone she knew and also if he threatened her in any way.
stay close to her and be with her as much as you can, but don't try to tell anyone yourself she needs to do this but you need to let her know that you will be with her when she does or if she feels that it is OK for you too tell.
unless you feel that her being angry with you is the best solution.
what ever happens the person who did this too her needs too be stopped.
no matter what the person was too her -- i.e. boyfriend or neighbor or classmate...and most definitely if it was a stranger.

You should talk to her about turning the guy in who raped her. She could be saving some other poor girl from going through the same thing. it won't be easy for her but it's her duty to do it...good luck

All of the above advice is good; so encourage her in every way, support her and be a great friend, and please make sure that he is reported; he shouldn't get away with this, and it could spare many other young girls from the experience she had, both mental and pyhsical and emotional.

Has she been to the police? She also needs to see a counselor. Check around for your local Rape and Abuse Crisis center.
