Xandros is also pretty good
You might want to check in to Linspire
I would suggest you have a second hard drive to install any of these on. you can use one drive, but unless you have expereince, buy a slave drive and load it there.

Puppy Linux. You can run it solely from RAM and once you decide to install it the distro will lead you step by step. I've taught seven year olds to install and use it. Just download it for free from the Puppylinux website

Mandrake has the best name. I got to say, dude, that if you have an operating system, and you have or you couldnt come here, then Linux is a *lot* of work you don't really need. Unless you're doing it as a hobby.
