Hi, I just got two kittens and the female is very curious, friendly and adventurous. She is 10 weeks old.
She loves being cuddled and stroked, but while I do this she miaows loudly and sharply - it almost sounds like she is in pain. She purrs the whole time though. She miaows if you stop stroking her too, and it seems to be random - not based on touching a particular part of her body.
Is she just a very vocal cat who is trying to tell me she likes being stroked? It doesn't seem as if she is in pain, but it sounds like an OW miaow if you know what I mean.

most kittens do this especially the talkative ones! It's sweet. There's nothing wrong with her. She's simply talking in her cat language, she adores being stroked and being made a fuss of. She'll soon let u know if she's had enough, cos that 'ow' will have a swishing tail to go with it! Enjoy her. Btw the females are usually the more vocal ones lol! The boys do too of course but it's the girls who chatter more!

Sounds like she's just being very vocal.
Usually cats don't come into heat (when they can get pregnant) until the fourth or fifth month of a kitten's life. You can tell by the way they are yelling (meowing very loudly) at night and sometimes mornings. Keep a watch as they will dash outside quickly too during that time.
Another thing my cat did during her heat cycle was to raise her rump when petted, then haunched her back legs a little. My cat's now spayed, but still raises her rear to get a better back scratch. Go figure.
Anyways, if you have any concerns, it can't hurt to have the vet do a check up.

Congrats on your new kittens, I think that cats in general have a personality that is all their own , the kitten could still be trying to get use to you and her new surroundings , seeming that she is still young I don't think that it is a sign that she is in heat or that she wants sex, this usually does not happen until they are about 5 1/2 -6 months of age. Her behavior however could be her sign of how she is feeling and that she is happy with her new home, if however you feel she is in pain or is showing aggression at all I would mention it at her next vet visit.

Maybe she is hungry? or just likes the atention. My own cat is very quiet and never miaows apart from when she wants into the house and randomly when she wants attention. Other cats miaow when they are hungry and other cats are very noisy. If she was in pain i don't think she would be purring.

Mostly its to get attention and show you she likes what you are doing. But, you could be right about an injury as cats purr to get attention, and often when they have been in car accidents, or otherwise injured will purr to get help and attention, so the purr does not always mean your cat is happy. If you are worried, call and ask your vet or take her in for a check up :)

She is loving the attention, and she dos,nt want you to stop, but if you have a too light touch she is saying ."put some elbow grease in it" They like the security off a firm hand. Try a firmer stroke from her nose to her tail your cat will love it, She is vocal and if you are vocal each time back she will answer you also she will love Her face touched

I have a cat that does that too. Sometimes it's cause she's in heat and other times she's just talking to you. Nothing to worry about though.

Sounds like she's maturing sexually, a lot of females are mature at 2 mos. Take her to the vet and talk to them about having her neutered. She's in heat.
