My computer is so slow and everytime I run a virus check it seems to get stuck on the "temporary internet files" section... I was wondering if I could possibly safely erase all contents in this folder? I mean if it's temporary it's not needed right? I can just delete the files no harm?

Usually what is stored in the temporary internet files folder are not important therefore it would be all right to delete everything in it. The only negative outcome is that should you visit the site again, the pictures have to be re-downloaded into your computer which can take up some time.

If you are still paranoid about losing important stuff, perform a "Disk Cleanup" on your C: drive. When the Disk Cleanup for C: window pops up, select "Temporary Internet Files" and click "View Files". From there, you will be presented with a list of folders with all the temporary data.

Look through each of them and delete only what you want to delete and that's it!

Go control panel > internet options > under temporary internet files click delete files. It will clear all. You can also clear the cookies too.

Sure! you can delete the whole folder. No bad effects will appear. "Windows" will create a new folder when it needs to store temporary information (probably next time you access the Internet).

yes. go to tools->internet options and delete the files there. also, set your history to 5 days or less.

[edit] um, i would advise against deleting cookies. that's why some sites can "remember" you. if you delete them, then you have to go through the whole rigamarole of putting in your username and password again to look at posts about recipies or something.

Yes, it's safe to delete. It's just cached information, so when you go back to websites it will cache the stuff all over again, so you won't lose anything you need. I delete mine every few weeks.
