Your future will be determined two ways. The first will be based on your own efforts. What you study in school, what kind of job you take, who you marry, where you travel, what you give back to humanity. The second will be how those things actually come about when based on the things you cannot control, such as Mother Nature and the human condition.
For instance, I wanted to have a baby. My future was directed towards parenthood. I had twins. That parenthood took on a very different view. Hence my future was determined by what I wanted and what I got.
