She is very loving to me, and once in a while she will "allow" my boyfriend (together 1yr) to pet her. Then sometimes she will hiss and growl at him when he enters the room. She always hisses and growls at everyone else, but just 1/2 the time at him, never at me. Any suggestions??

I found out a long time ago that animals, dogs especially, can get a good judge of character. Perhaps your cat is trying really hard to tell you something about your boyfriend and doesn't like him for a reason. A lot of times, they are right.

Your cat obviously does not like your boyfriend and totally hates strangers. I had a calico who would not allow anyone to touch her other than me. She would growl and hiss and bite. With me, she would cuddle, purr and kiss my nose. Strange and fascinating creatures.

I now have 6. Two of them hide whenever anyone comes in the house other than me or my bf. They just don't like strangers.

Cats are great for loving everything to remain the same. You have introduced a new "cat" (your boyfriend) and maybe he is surprising her when he enters the room. Cats startle easily. Try rubbing your boyfriend's scent--a t-shirt--on the cat's nose to get him used to her and have him say Here kitty, kitty, before he enters the room so she will get used to his voice. It wouldn't hurt for him to bring her a treat every now and then either.

You are the cats property. She thinks she owns you and is finally allowing your boyfriend around means she's starting to realize he is going to be part of your life. And all cats have multiple personalities and you never know what it'll do. Every cat I ever had was the same way and I've had cats around me my whole life (30ish years. lol).

Never underestimate the wisdom of an animal! Especially a cat, who tends to pick up on their owners feelings!

I think that if you think your cat has a personality, you need to get out and make some human friends.

I'd toss that cat in the trash just before the garbage men come to pick up the trash.

sounds like she's possessive of U.
I'm not sure how U can successfully stop this sort of behaviour.
hope that she may warm 2 UR bf, in time.

I think VOICE and TIMOTHY DL may have something, there. Cats are keen judges of emotion, and she may be picking up on something you aren't.
