Stress from a problem that can't be resolved is affecting my love life. Also, the problem is all-consuming so that it is what I talk about alot. So why does my boyfriend stay with me and not leave me? It seems to me that he is not getting much out of this relationship. Could it be that he loves the feeling of being needed?

If you realize that you have been unfair to him, don't you think you ought to apologize to him and stop bitching anymore?
Learn to manage your stress by finding out what is causing the stress. Then have some outlets to de-stress and not use your b/f as a punching bag!

Ok... Since you didnt elaborate on what the problem is i can not offer much advice... It does however seem to me that you seem to have a few self esteem issues... Why your boyfriend stays with you is simple, because he loves you... As for the problem, im sure at the moment you feel like its all-consuming and can not be resolved but trust me when i say this, it will get better, you will find a way to resolve the issue... Putting pen to paper helps, write down how you feel, write down whats annoying you etc... Keeping a diary has helped me through some really difficult things in my life...
