I moved to a new townhouse a little over a year ago. She has had one accident before that. She peed the first time right after we moved in. I do not think she has been doing it since then. But about two weeks ago my husband noticed a spot in one of our rooms and realized it was pee. I have two cats so it took me a while to figure out who was doing this but lo and behold I just caught my female cat in the act..... I did get both cats at the same time and although I tried at the beginning they insisted on sharing a litter box (my second cat is a male/ both are fixed) Can someone please help I have no idea what to do and if she doesn't stop I am afraid my husband will insist on getting rid of her. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I had the same exact problem, two cats, male & female both fixed, and female peeing on the floor. I have to make sure and clean the litter box every other day. with two cats, it fills up fast and they wont use it if it is full. she also may need some "extra" attention. is your male normaly more loving?? it may be helpful to give her an extra pat on the head or talk to her more.
Also, sometimes when a cat is having pain while urinating, they will associate it with the litter box, and go somewhere else... if all else fails, get her vet-checked.

Clean the spot with vinegar. Then place a bowl of her dry food over the spot after it drys. You can also cover it with foil. You need to leave it on the spot for a week or two for her to get the message. Also, I would consider getting a second litter box. It is very difficult for two adult cats to share the same box and be happy about it. She had the accident the first time because your place was new. The smell is still there so she thinks it's fine to keep using that spot. Good luck!

P.S. You do need the vet to check her out and make sure she does not have a urinary tract infection. You may have to change her cat food to something with a lower ash content. Make sure you change out the water in her bowl every day to every other day.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

Good answers from Sister Cat. Also I know Petco sells a special litter that is supposed to actually attract cats to the box. I haven't tried it- but it might work.

The rule of thumb is one litter box per cat- plus one- so you really should have 3. Keep them clean and in a private space. You say they insisted on sharing the box-but if you put out extras they will be used. Dn't worry about which cat uses which box.

Maybe the male "attacked" the female when she was using the box, and now she is afraid to use it.

My daughter in-law had the same problem with her female cat and she also seemed in very good health. however we found out sometime later when they were just about to give up and get rid of her that a urinary track infection can cause a cat to do this. So she brought her to the vet had test done and sure enough she had an infection and they put her on antibiotics and now she no longer pees on the carpet or anywhere besides her litter box. I hope this helps you.

Honey I have had the very same problem. Belive me I am a cat fancier like you wouldnt belive. First I have a few questions before I can truly answer this question. Did you move to a brand new house or did someone live there before you? Does she pee in the same area all the time? Or does she go where ever whom does NOT favor her ?(out of you or your hubby) (meaning on either of your things) Also it may be that she does not want to share a box but he is male and must be dominant(like others we know) So she may be going where ever she thinks is clean and appropriate for her. But if shes not going on either of your things and the house isnt new she may be marking from a pet before her. please respond

You need three litter boxes one for each cat and one extra. You also need a box on each level of your home. You may try moving the box to another location. You may have to set a timer and take the cat each hour and place her in a box. Make sure the boxes are very clean. Good luck!

You have two cats, so therefore the one peeing all over the carpets is marking her territory over the areas in which the other cat is walking around on. It's perfectly normal for cats to do this. Watch her carefully though, because carpets turn into marking on beds, couch, clothes baskets, etc. I know, I had to get rid of a cat for doing this.

Could be moving stress, marking new territory, or an illness. If it continues you should take her to a vet. My cat had a UTI and did that a lot. You can treat a UTI at home with some cranberry juice on tuna, and should see a result in a few days, however if you are unsure that it is a UTI you should take her to a vet.

your cat may have crystals that build up in her urin check for blood in urine it causes urine to build up and then just spray out at random times. Give vitamin C tablets to help break down urinary crystals. Also the food she eats can be the cause go the the pet store ask for science diet or other more healthier foods. Another reason might be if her litter box is not clean enough.
