What is the diffrence b/w pretensioning & post tensioning with eg.?

pretensioning is done by putting a camber into materials that will carry a load (bridges, trailers ect) post tensioning is done by using a mechanical means to support afterwards (jack posts, retaining walls, bearing walls).

Before and after tensioning respectively. Pre tensioning by means of self weight and post tensioning means additional tensioning by additional force or weight.
