Boarding the cat is safer for the cat, and will give you peace of mind knowing it is being cared for while you are gone. Also, this kitty NEEDS some socializing !! Boarding will get this kitty to make friends with others ! She might love other kitties and humans around .
I live alone too, with my cat. I wish I HAD socialized him at a younger age. Now he is a loner like me.....not good for either of us.

sounds like you have very strong attachments to your kitty, which is rightfully so.
I am not to sure where oz is or what it means but it seems to me that you only have a couple of options.
whatever the reason for leaving kitty for 2-3 months must be pretty important,
I live here in the states could you be a little more spacific about your trip, Business, Vacation, Religous.
Is this trip a must?

Check your phone book, ask your vet or local shelter, for a professional pet sitter. Instead of paying for your cat to be in a cattery, you pay for someone to come over to your home in your absence and take care of your cat on a daily basis.
I take it that you cannot bring your cat with you on your trip? Your vet should be able to help you with getting a health certifercate to help with your international travels.

As far as I can see.....you've got 2 choices. Don't go, or put him in a cattery. You can't leave him on his own for that long even if you can find somebody to feed him. Catteries aren't that bad anyway.....

You can hire a pet sitter to come to your house to check on him daily. This way he can stay in the comfort of his own home, and can get attention on a daily basis. Since it is for such a long period..they may be willing to give you a discounted rate. Or you can have a friend or co-worker check on him, or split it between a friend and sitter to save you some money.

you may have to put him in a cattery, just do your homework find one that you feel comfortable with. unless you have friends or family members that could come by every day to give feed it, give it fresh water and clean out the litter box as well as play with him.

without any one to check in on him at home, your best bet is to have him boarded. He would go crazy in your home alone. I left mine for a week with someone checking on him every other day and I came home he was all over me!! I know the idea of locking him up is scary, but leaving him alone would be worse.

I'm with the first guy, you can't leave him alone for that long, he'll die. Cats are self sufficient, but not THAT self sufficient, how cruel is that to leave something locked alone inside for that long?

If a cat is the love of your life then you have bigger problems than wondering where to put him when you are on holiday.
