His name is Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva and supposedly Pride bailed out on the agreement.
The UFC does have some weak weight divisions, especially the heavyweight division. However, last I heard Pride doesn't test for steroids and the UFC does (ie Mark "The Hammer" Coleman).
Pride is huge in Japan, so I don't know if the UFC makes more money. The Tokyo Dome regularly packs about 80,000 people as opposed to about 18,000 max here in the states.

UFC has Dana White so even though the fights may not be as good, it's definitely making more money than Pride. Dana has done a wonderful job of promoting UFC. Pride isn't a household name like the UFC is now. I do wish the UFC fighters would be compensated more than they are. Pride does beat them in that category.

I am. However I'm far more disappointed by how badly they treat their fighter. The Champ didn't even make over 150,000 in one night while Pride fighter make roughly 400,000 to 600,000. The lowest pay in UFC is around 2,000 while Pride start out at 20,000 or so.

We should get a taste of the two together soon. If Ladell beats Sobral, the next fight should be against the tough guy in pride. ( I forgot his name, sorry)
