A 1.5 year old child should be eating table food. A child this age can eat pretty much anything that you are eating.

Gerber makes a $6 food mill that you can buy at your grocery store. Your child is old enough that you can start giving your child food that you eat.
The food mill will grind the food up to a texture that is just a little rougher than second foods if your a little worried about moving in stages too fast.
My daughter did great with it.

Its okay to still feed the baby foods, but you should also offer other solid foods. An 18 month old should be eating foods that they can pick up on their own and practicing using a spoon. They need to build the fine motor control in their hands.

Baby food is always going to be considered healthy, but at 1 and a half I would start bringing in regular food also.

Gerber 2nd foods are for toddlers, yes, but you can actually start substituting "real" food in your child's diet. I actually had my child eating most normal food at this age. Depending on growth and development ie. teeth and coordination.

If you don't start giving that kid some real food, then he is never going to eat it later on, and you will want him to. Mine is 16 months old and he eats whatever I make for us. He has ate table food now for about 4 months.
