There are so many subjects and topics, it is hard to know everything.

Pick something that you are interested in to being with. Say you like race cars. Then read more magazine about it. study how to make better faster cars.

Next along with the topic you like. Read some newspaper and news magazines. Read everything about what is on the news. Also don't read only one news source. Read different sources because one or two may be biased and your view point will be influenced.

From then, you may find more interesting topics that you like also. Further develop further interests.

I'd find a good encyclopedia set, start with reading "A" and work my way up the alphabet. You'd be surprised how much you learn. I grew up in the country and had little to do on evenings. I would spend an hour or so each night reading the things. Although much of it never stuck, a lot was retained as knowledge. My folks had two sets, an old adult set and a newer teen set. I had started with the teen since it had nice color pictures to illustrate, then went to the adult later. It has helped out as I've gone through life, just turned 50 now.

I'll bet you know more than you realize.

Read more often? Take extra-curricular classes...

This would really depend on your age. If you're a minor, then attend school. If you aren't a minor, you could either attend adult classes or go to the library a bit more often... they are known to have a wealth of accessible knowledge.

Or you could always just read the dictionary, LOL.
