PUNARABHI JANANAM PUNARABHI MARANAM
PUNARABHI JANANI JATRE SHAYANAM
Once Again Birth, Once Again Death,
Once Again Lying In Mother’s Womb.
The fundamental tenet is that in passing through our lives, we acquire Virtue for all our virtuous and noble acts; and likewise Curse for our sinful and wicked acts. They go on accumulating till the end of life then the departed Soul, automatically carries with it the accumulated burden of both Virtue and Curse which together constitute PRARABDHA KARMA and take rebirth somewher either immedietly or some time after many years. The sinful or virtues departed souls wait till such planetary combinations to take place (benefic or malefic) and again take birth in order to complete the Prarabdha Karma my dear.......
Accordingly, an individual must experience enjoyment as reward for the virtuous act and suffer punishment for the evil act committed in the previous birth under the Law of Karma. There is no escape from paying the penalty. The Law of Karma is inexorable and acts automatically whether we wish or not!!

Is there life after death?
First of all let's be clear what is meant by death. In the normal stages of death the heart stops beating and respiration ceases. Without a supply of oxygen the bodies various organs stop functioning and start to die. The brain, also starved of oxygen begins to shut down. Death occurs when the brain ceases to register activity. All straight forward stuff.
So the difference between being alive and being dead is activity in the brain. We are our brain. What is the very essence of us, what makes me me and you you, is our brain. So what is it?
The human brain is a collection of cells that for the typical adult weighs about 3 lbs. It contains 100 billion neurons. The neurons form connections to each other called synapses. These synapses produce chemicals called neurotransmitters. There are 1,000,000,000,000,000 synapses in the brain. A neuron is activated and the synapses connects to another neuron via a neurotransmitter through its synapses. Every thought you have, every movement you take, every memory you possess, is nothing more than a particular sequence of synapses. This is what we are, a collection of neurons sparking off a chain reaction to other neurons. When the brain is no longer activating neurons, we cease to exist.
The rest of our body serves no other purpose than to keep the brain alive and to reproduce.
So if that's all we are, then to answer the question 'is there life after death', the answer would have to be no. The real question then is, is that all we are?
Those of a religious nature would argue that we are far more than that, they would argue that we have a soul. A soul is, for me, hard to imagine. How do you describe it? It is not something that we can detect, it is a spiritual thing without any physical substance, and it is this that supposedly lives on after our mortal bodies have died. So where is the soul while we are alive? I assume it must reside in the brain as that is where we reside. I can only assume again that when the brain dies the soul is released. That being the case the soul is able to survive without the need of a body, it is obviously independent of the body. So why does it need a body in the first place? Perhaps it needs a body to develop and is unable to leave it until the body dies. See Our final destiny, immortals?
According to popular belief only human beings possess a soul, animals apparently do not. So what is the difference between humans and animals? As far as I can tell it's just a question of intelligence, as measured by us. After all it's not that long ago that we were animals, we weren't created human, we just evolved along different lines than the others. That being the case there is nothing special about us that should warrant us having a soul and animals not, after all, some people are born with severe brain malfunctions that on an intelligence scale would rate them less than some animals. So intelligence can not be the deciding factor, unless you believe that you need to score above a certain IQ level in order to be granted a soul. If we tinker around with genetics and produce a chimp with the IQ of a schoolboy, would that give it a soul? Would the chimp go to heaven?
So what exactly could it be that determines whether or not a life form merits a soul or not, as the case may be? I think we can rule out intelligence. What else sets us apart from the animals? Some would say our appreciation of the arts, poetry, music, etc. I don't agree. I think that just comes with intelligence. What else is there? Absolutely nothing at all! We think we have a soul, we think we are 'superior' to the animals, we think there is some undefinable quality about us that sets as apart from the animals. Hogwash! We are just animals that got smart.
Assuming for the sake of argument that we do possess a soul, then the obvious question is where does it go when we die? I know what your thinking, it goes to heaven. So what and where is heaven? Obviously it isn't a 'real' place up in the sky somewhere, it is a spiritual place, it has to be if the soul can go there and we can't. What does it do when it gets there? is it the end of our journey, or the beginning? This is more to do with a belief in God

Firstly, there is no cause to assume the existence of either a soul, or an afterlife...
Secondly, there is no possible way to get a true answer by ASKING any human. The only way to find out is when you die, and any answer you get would only be from a person who hasn't yet died... Every answer below and above can be no more than wishful thinking.
And, in case someone mentions it, I will say that, when someones body has died and is then revived, and the person claims to have had experiences while dead, it can be attributed to the fact that the human brain can survive for up to around 3 minutes after the heart has stopped... Any, "visions," had during the partial death can all be explained by this. They are not souls or afterlifes, it is the residual life left in the brain.

Sure. The soul is the spiritual being that experience life through the physical body. When the body disintegrate or die, the sould continues on and at some time will need to feel the existence of a life due to its craving and attachment to it. When a body dies, the soul leaves it and starts to wander around in a stage of limbo or "bardo". Due to its attachments and mind set, it may take life form again in one of six existences, such as, heaven, demon, human, animal, ghost and hell. This taking form and experiencing existence again it has to do within 49 days. Some happens immediately other later. In short, our bodies is only a shell for the perpetual spiritual being. If a body has no spiritual being it does not move and will be like a rock, just as a car cannot move without a driver to drive it.Take care.

Life after death is a very loosely used term for the happenings a soul goes through after death.
If you go into the Hindu Mythology texts, this is clearly mentioned that every soul gets either a new body, or goes through the painful experiences of the hell or might even as well get to reach the heaven, depending upon the deeds performed by them in the sum total of all the incarnations one takes.
So definitely soul continues to exist to suffer its successive fate after death of the body occurs.
Thanks.

Depends on your beliefs. If you don't follow the Bible, than yes, because you think the soul is eternal, which is a pagan belief. The Bible says the soul dies with the body, and that when the Israelites sacrificed the lamb on the alter, they were to first slit it throat and allow its soul to pour out on the ground. As for the Spirit of life, the Bible says we share that with the animals, with neither being greater than the other. So, to have life after death, you have to be resurrected, like Jesus was, who could do nothing until he was. He slept in the grave. Now, if you are resurrected, there are two forms of that, to life in heaven and life on earth. The first resurrection takes place at the rapture, the second much later after Armageddon, but those resurrected will not marry or be given in marriage.

I believe in life after death. The poet John Donne in his poem 'Death be not proud' says that Death is one short sleep past to everlasting life. Our soul contains our deeds good as well as bad. Our Creator judges the soul when it returns to him. He accepts the good souls and rejects the bad.

Heb 9:27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once--and after this, judgment--
When we die, we will stand before God and He will judge us.
If we are found in an unacceptable state, i.e., covered with sin, we will suffer eternal punishment.
If we are standing before Him, with our sins washed by Jesus' sacrificial blood, we will suffer eternal joy.
Rev 21:3 Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: Look! God's dwelling is with men, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God.
Rev 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will exist no longer; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away.
Rev 21:5 Then the One seated on the throne said, "Look! I am making everything new." He also said, "Write, because these words are faithful and true."
Rev 21:6 And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give to the thirsty from the spring of living water as a gift.
Rev 21:7 The victor will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.
Rev 21:8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars--their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."
