That's what my mother says. Course, she's my mother and I'm sure she believes that to convince herself that her atheist daughter will still go to heaven.
I'm pretty sure I've read in the Bible that faith without works will NOT get one into heaven. In fact, I recall reading that faith alone won't even save one from Hell.
It's the good works, the good life, the good heart of a person that determines whether they're "saved"... at least, that's what I've come to understand.
Now...... I'm an atheist. I don't believe in Heaven, don't believe in Hell, don't believe in God or the Devil or Angels or Imps or Demons... I believe in decency. I believe in our ability as humans to be truly giving and kind and compassionate. I believe that if the impossible came true, if there IS a heaven, all people who do good works, regardless of faith, will be welcomed.

Jesus is not about heaven and hell. He is not about "do this" or "don't do that." He is about truth and love. He is about reality.
If there is a living God who is good, just, and perfect doesn't it make sense to want to know him?
Your question implies several things,
first, you believe in heaven
second, you believe there is a Jesus Christ,
third, you want to be a good honest person;
So, why do you want to live without the full truth of personally knowing Christ and making him known to other people?

And those who were given the Book did not become divided except after clear evidence had come to them. And they were not enjoined anything except that they should serve Allah, being sincere to Him in obedience, upright, and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and that is the right religion. Surely those who disbelieve from among the followers of the Book and the polytheists shall be in the fire of hell, abiding therein; they are the worst of men. (As for) those who believe and do good, surely they are the -best of men. Their reward with their Lord is gardens of perpetuity beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein for ever; Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him; that is for him who fears his Lord.
The parable of those who disbelieve in their Lord: their actions are like ashes on which the wind blows hard on a stormy day; they shall not have power over any thing out of what they have earned; this is the great error.
And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of hell, and evil is the resort.

No, honesty alone cannot gaurantee you to go to Heaven.
You can recieve grace, it doesn't matter what sins you have done, what your past was, who you are, how old you are, nothing like that matters! All that matters is that you want Jesus with you, and trust me, it's an amazing feeling. You have to admit that you are sinful and confess that Jesus is sinless and believe he died for you on the cross, for God to be able to forgive you through his blood. You have to ask Jesus for the eternal, personal salvation that he offers. If you truly believe this you'll feel like this tremondous load has been lifted of your shoulders, like you're free. It's amazing. If you want more information and are interested, please go to a local church pastor. He/She will not turn you down, no matter what, trust me. There is hope, there always is.
Watch this, it's truly incredible, you will not be dissapointed. I encourage all of you to see this amazing video on this site:

Going to heaven cannot be judged by man's view. It is in the hands of God. For which one must know the rules to go to heaven fixed by God.

The Bible says plainly that the only way to God is through His son. If I remember correctly God lives in Heaven.
