They can call themselves Exalted Grand Poobah and it still wouldn't mean their faulty beliefs are any more valid.
Most of their 'doctoral degrees' come from bogus christian colleges, so they're hardly worth the paper they're printed on. Sadly, that doesn't matter to the brainwashed masses.

The 'Doctorate's a level of education. You can have a doctorate degree in any of a great number of fields. The M.D. and the Ph.D. are not the only doctorate degrees.
The "religious clerics" you speak of may have an earned doctorate degree in theology, in ministry, in education, or perhaps another.
Fortunate or unfortunate - as in many fields, there are also the "honorary" doctorate degrees in addition to the earned degrees, this is not limited to the "religious clerics" you speak of. There are people with earned doctorate degrees, as well as people with "honorary" doctorate degrees all around you.
An earned doctorate degree, in any field, is a long and intensive process. Don't belittle it.

Anyone can buy a 'doctor' title for very little money. For religious clerics and the like, it just shows that they've formalized the delusion of their fantasy world.
