Is it a good idea to get it cleared BEFORE it gets blocked again?

Or just leave it alone?

I use an over-the-counter ear wax removal liquid and an ear-washing bulb (many treatments come with the bulb). I forget exactly what it's called but I get the generic Eckerd brand.

I usually wait until my ears get blocked before I use it because the feeling of getting rid of it is very cathartic. It's usually my biggest accomplishment of any given day.

I know I need hobbies.

For the in-between periods I usually wash my ears out with the bulb when I'm in the shower. Seems to do the trick. Just don't overdo it.

You should get it washed out by a doctor (ear, nose and throat
specialist). This is quite common and it does not hurt. But please
do not try anything yourself, like cotton swabs etc. This happens
to some people when the weather gets extremely dry and the wax
forms into lumpy blob. It happened to me when I was doing a lot
of air travel back in the 60‘s. I had my ears flushed out by a doctor
and and it has never happened again. I repeat, do not try to remove
the wax on your own as you may damage your inner ear. Do it soon.

A lot of people are also starting to use ear candles. An American Indian invention that involves laying down on you side placing a special paper cone in one ear at a time. lighting it. the gentle heat softens the wax and it is then draw up into the paper. you are always supposed to have someone else there to make sure you don't fall asleep and accidentally get burnt. supposed to be very relaxing I keep meaning to try it out!!
