The notion that sexual reassignment surgery is morally wrong stems typically from the predicate that morality derives from an infallible, omniscient, omnipotent deity ("God") that is intimately invested in the respective lives of each person.

Judeo-Christian mythology holds that investment to have begun at some point prior to conception of the person (extrapolation from Jeremiah 1:5, et al); it is to many therefore logically inconceivable that God assigned a person the wrong gender.

That assumes, of course, that God neither (a) orchestrated such "erroneous assignment" as a test of the compassion of his followers, nor (b) allowed Satan to muck-up someone's life sort of like he did with Job (albeit using a different methodology).

I can't imagine any mature genuine Christian arguing against the morality of sexual reassignment surgery;

however, I believe each would insist that such an operation not be performed without having first thoroughly vetted the candidate: such profound changes ought not be lightly undertaken.

You cant back up moral debate in that way. And theres nothing wrong with it, to ask denotes you probably already have an opinion. You want to change your sexual appearance, for whatever self-purpose, you were born a certain sex, it doesnt change your technical sex, but you can call yourself whatever you want.

That depends on your values. I don't know how to back up such a simple answer.
